Championship Thread 25/26 Season

Be interesting if Southampton realised their finances were going to be a mess if they didn’t make it back up and that’s why they resorted to spying

….i think it’s more about a naive young head coach besotted by tactics and looking for another edge. The blinkers were on and I don’t for one minute think he realised the consequences.

A month ago Eckert was being lauded as the next big thing, be interesting if this whole affair impacts his future as much as Southamptons. The irony is they failed to win (in 90mins) any of the 3 games they’ve admitted to ‘spying’ before.

Not convinced on the naive personally , it was clearly a calculated decision. Southampton went on an incredible run of form with him , with players interviewed stating how amazing & unprecedented his preparation was but he only spied on two league games ? Having not one either league game he spied on he thought the risk of huge penalties was worth it for the biggest game of the season , in my opinion not a chance .

The evidence points to spying becoming the norm and Southampton have coughed the ones they’ve no choice with.

Interestingly there is speculation that two historic examples of spying (cologne on Hamburg & Germany in France ) both occurred when eckert was employed at the both those accused of spying .

….definitely calculated but naive in not realising the seriousness of the offence and likely consequences.

Yeah ok I get that and said something similar , the actions were calculating but it disregarding the consequences could be considered naive or it might be thought of as arrogant .

In life when people get away with things it often becomes the norm , after a period with no consequences then the idea of facing repercussions is dismissed. Feels like this is where they were

Based on who we would have to play against next season I'd be wanting Hull to win as they are pretty poor by all accounts. One less open relegations slot. On the other hand Middlesboro were beaten on the pitch by Soton and will be carrying that around in the prem if they win which could be good fun to watch too. Dilema.
