ReallY? Is this level of sanctimony actually justified? And if you’re going to go down that road, is Turkey’s knife crime really that prevalent / out of control?

Forgive me if I’m wrong and you’re Istanbul or Turkish based, and very much au fait with the level of criminal activity there, but it feels like you’re making this comment on the basis of the odd highly publicised Turkish ultra stabbing at an Istanbul derby, rather than an in depth analysis of Turkish knife crime statistics.
He works in the uk where there's big knife crime issues.

And as for turkey, their people are well known to be quite stabby

If a kopite done this there would be a 50 page thread saying he should be banned for life.

He’s a proper idiot doing that and it makes us look bad

This is mental. Tosun has scored 5 goals in 14 appearances for us having joined in January in a new league, a new country and a god awful team - his first game we got murdered 4-0 by Tottenham. He has played well and scored in champions league games for Besiktas against much better teams.

Batshuayi had a purple patch in a fantastic attacking Dortmund team. In England he scored 7 goals in 32 appearances for Chelsea.

Rashford has scored 17 in 78 for Man U. Yes he’s had a lot of sub appearances, but that’s just like Cenk. And he’s played under Mourinho, a negative defensive manager, just like Cenk did under allardyce.

How are these two that much better than Cenk? And how much would Rashford in particular coat to buy? £40m? £50m?

Give Cenk a season with a progressive manager and I see no reason why he can’t get 20 goal. He works hard, he’s passionate and he can score all types of goals.

Wait what the majority of those games were horrible. Very dire viewing; probably because they had quite a lot injuries to contend with. And they had plenty of luck, especially against Atalanta; they were lucky Batshuayi had scored two but that was about it. His main quality is that he's very efficient. The season before he only had 4 shots, resulting in three goals in 127 minutes of PL football. In February he was the most efficient player in all the big competitions. A goal or an assist every 57 minutes, since 2016. He almost always scores on his debut etc... He's just a goal scorer, nothing more nothing less.

Saying this I agree with you that he probably isn't the correct player for Everton. I like him a lot, mainly because he's a friendly character and not too serious. Probably wouldn't work well at Everton, since he can appear lethargic (@PhilM ), has a tendency to switch off etc... Is a bit weird with his hair, walks around in Sponge Bob outfits...

Rightly or wrongly, as you mentioned many of our fans would prefer a player to overtly put a shift in rather than consider the goals they score.

That's why Rom would get lots of claims that he was lethargic (well, the word was lazy) although his style of play probably also contributed to this.

Unfortunately however, I still think that with some of our fans that there's an underpinning racial issue which I could see in many of the criticisms.

Personally, I think Batshuayi would be a worthwhile option as his style of play and return are good, but there'd be those who would openly moan.

Someone would simply rather have a Stracqualursi rather than a Batshuayi regardless of what they actually offered in terms of goals.
