They aren't bringing the V6 to the UK. They will be selling the 2.3 Ecoboost and the 5.0 V8 in RHD too and at a very competitive price compared to the dullorama Beemers with similar performance. Seems 70+% of orders placed are for the V8. If you want a Yank, you have to go the whole hog. I love my old one even though it is slow and rubbish. The noise beats any tune by any artist you care to name.
Ahh, I misunderstood. The V8 and the Ecoboost sort of make the V6 redundant then, I'd say.

These Ecoboost engines are getting a good press. Every report I've heard of owners experience has been good.

The V6 is the cheapo fleet rental car for the US. Hire one from the airport and that is what you will get.

The Ecoboost is an impressive performer (305bhp from 2.3 litres) but there ain't no substitute for cubic inches.

What bhp does the V6 have? 300 mate. And the Ecoboost has 310.

Jaguar XE is interesting newcomer. Looks pretty and will compete with BMW 300 series.
Saw one on the M62 last week - looks good.

My order of preference would be

1. V8
2. Something else with a V8 (and no flat plane crank bolleaux that sounds like 2 fours - Ferrari, I'm looking at you)

@Groucho - it has 10 less gee gees than the 2.3L, believe it or not. But the Shermans love a bit of torque....
Don't get me wrong, I'd prefer the V8. But if we're choosing a smaller engine, it's hard to justify going for the larger but less powerful and less economical V6. If it was a straight 6, then I'd take that over even the V8 for the smoothness alone, but you lose that benefit with the V arrangement.

I understand the V appeal mate. V12 is the way to go. Oh the smoothness.....

V8 with a high lift cam and a lumpy idle burbling through twin Cherry Bomb exhausts. It could be 100bhp for all I care. It's all about the burble brother.

Most fun I have in my car is accelerating from 10 to 30 mph in tunnels. Corners are so passe.

'There ain't no replacement for displacement.'

Except for modern technology. Or turbochargers. Or super chargers. Or new ERS systems.

I was super impressed, one of the best regular rentals I have ever had. Even more impressed that it was only a 2 litre engine..
Sometimes cars surprise you. I've driven a ton of things over the years, and the best engine award goes to my dad's 1996 Ford Scorpio 2.3 - they may have been ugly, but they were actually ace cars. And funnily enough, @Morag's dad's old Citroen van had THE comfiest seats of anything I've ever driven.

I'd quite like one of those new Mustang's that are coming to the UK. Shot to the top of my wish list, overtaking the Bentley W12 Continental. Maybe both? lol
