Lad a BMW is afFordable even they do cost a Lot usually you'll get your value out of it.

If Yugo into a garage and manage to Dodge a high Fi at the offset then you could Triumph.

Are BMW's reliable?

Yes and no.
Well made doesnt always mean reliable.
Look at the 2005-2011 Passat.
Looks like quality, VW badge, etc.
But its an absolute dog of a car, lots of issues, poorly designed, poor component quality, lots of gremlins.

BMW's on the whole are more reliable than most but do cost alot more if they go wrong, if your buying used your better going for a petrol unless your planing on doing mega miles.
Modern day diesels are time bombs on your wallet and best avoided.

I loved the original because it was completely mental but the last one seemed almost like a fairly normal sports car (albeit an 8.3 litre one!)

This one looks awesome though, and even more power - 640bhp and 600lb/ft!!

This man is bloody good at driving.

Agree, just wait until your diesel particulate filter gets clogged up and see the bill. One of my cars is an Audi diesel and as it is only used for city driving, the DPF got clogged up in 3 years and with less than 30k on the clock, resulting in about £2.5k worth of repairs.

Audi initially said it was not covered by warranty, then I discovered that that their main dealers had been advising clients not to buy diesels for predominantly city use because of this DPF issue, and Audi have known about it since 2008 when they started fitting DPF's. The unit does not get hot enough in city driving so soot accumulates over time resulting in the clogging and subsequent engine management failure.

Audi agreed to meet all costs.

If you only do city driving avoid modern diesels.
