2020/21 Carlo Ancelotti

Hes produced some tactical master classes this season imo. If his only quality was just being a flash mega team manager that just steadies super clubs towards trophies this pish poor mediocre Everton team would be in serious serious trouble.

We have produced some brilliant performances this season and we are well placed for Europe. Fulham will beat more than us in the fight for thier survival and WBA drew and should have beating a United side touted for the prem a few weeks ago. They are a team of top quality players. We will very well lose another struggling side again. It is what it is.

If anything Carlo has proved he is more than a cardboard stand in manager of super clubs in half of a first season in charge.
I wasn't saying he was a cardboard stand in manager, I was saying his biggest skill is man management, which is increasingly important in modern football, and also means you can get players like James Rodriguez to come to Everton, as they know they will be treated with love and respect.

We still have to be balanced and patient in the way we think about Ancelotti. One year ago, our squad, the tactics, the approach were rubbish. We have only changed 4 players in the first XI. I know we may end up 'only' in 8th place, but we always used to accept failure if we were moving in the right direction. We are 100% moving in the right direction and if we just add another 4 players this year - attacking midfielder, wide player, a RB and a GK we will again take a big step forward

Never known our home form being so bad? Martinez second or third season maybe

After this week, there's no midweek matches which gives the teams not in Europe plenty of time between games to get fitness and tactics sorted. It will be interesting to see who pushed on and who stands still or goes backwards. You would hope if we can get Mina and Keane playing together, Allan and Doucoure playing together, Digne back properly fit, and DCL fit, we would have a shot at Europe. It will be interesting.
A best 11 all fit of
GK
Godfrey
Mina
Keane
Digne
Davies /Gomes/Siggy
Doucoure
Allan
James
DCL
Ricarlison
Will pick up a lot more points with only one game a week
We have only one midweek game left (at home to Sheffield Utd in May) plus the rearranged game for the FA cup quarter final

Agree with that line up as best XI and Davies currently over the other 2, which is not something I thought I’d ever say!
Gylfi should be only a replacement for Rodriguez off the bench and Gomes for the midfield area.
This would give us a pretty strong bench too of Coleman, Holgate, Iwobi, Gylfi, Gomes, Bernard, King.

Or maybe people should be questioning players who play with a decent (and only decent) level of intensity one week then not the next. For weeks now we've got results more because of other teams short comings rather than our level of performance.
They are

but it’s also fair to question why the manager chose a mental system which was proven not to work, then when it clearly wasn’t working, didn’t change it until we inevitably went a goal down

Although he's messed it up in a number of games this season with his selection and tactics, I am loath to criticise him too much when he is forced to play with the likes of Coleman, Pickford, Sigurdsson, Davies, Iwobi, Gomes et al on a regular basis.

This isn't Carlo's squad yet - only next season will we be able to judge him properly. If he can't motivate this group of players to get up for a home match vs Fulham then I am quite confident that no manager in the world could do so, and he knows this and knows which players need punting.

Some of our group are an utter disgrace to the term "professional footballer". Let's not forget that a large part of this squad has downed tools many times before to see off numerous managers. THEY are the problem, not Carlo.

Sigurdsson, Gomes and JamesThe never play with intensity though do they? We’ve known this for a very long time.
Sigurdsson has been known to break sweat on occasion. The other two can run and even if they can't tackle, could make a nuisance of themselves by at least running towards the player in possession making him have to at least think about what he'll do next. No excuse for coming off the pitch with a shirt that barely needs washing.

Still won't be his squad though Sigurdsson,Gomes Iwobi, Pickford,he Is stuck with for a while yet.

Unfortunately, yep, especially when you consider we will need to welcome back Tosun who isn't good enough, and Kean who didn't want to be here in the first place. A tough job trying to revamp a massively expensively-assembled squad of losers.

I agree that’s the best 11 and we should start to do better with one game a week if they all stay fit.

Don’t we also have the rearranged league game against Villa to fit somewhere as well?
