Look I get people like the Athletic because they do stuff differently and generally put out some decent opinion. They are however not the oracle on football and aren’t connected to the club via a cable going into the back of the neck. This has come out of nowhere and everywhere is now reporting it which would suggest it has legs.

Sky reporting this deal being done “in principal” suggests he’s there and it’s true because they would look unbelievably stupid and lose a lot of credibility (yeah but they don’t have any of that anyway blah blah blah) if they’ve got it wrong.
