Carlo Ancelotti Appointed Everton Manager

Off subject a little bit the Aquisition of Ibrahimovic is an interesting one. I think one thing our player lack is a bit of arrogance. Even when we are winning. Liverpool and Leicester to a lesser extent have bundles of arrogance by the way I don’t like it but it breeds confidence. Ibrahimovic is a proven winner and may show the team a winning mentality. It may not happen or could have the opposite effect but I wouldn’t mind our players showing a bit more snide.

The Koeman and Brands buying have a common denominator: throwing big money at players with over-inflated reputations. Brands' major drawback though is his cursory consideration of a player's injury record or current fitness status. He' literally cost Everton tens of millions with that buffoonery.
Not sure which player/s you are alluding to, I assume you mean Gbamin and Delph. Gbamin was just "one of them", he was just unlucky with the timing of his injury but Delph did have a bit of a track record where injuries are concerned but we didn't really pay that much for him though.
Having said that I do think Brands has blotted his copybook by failing to secure an established CF and CB, I was really surprised that we had no plan B when it was evident that Zouma wasn't coming, it wasn't like he didn't have the time to look for alternatives.
I'm hoping that now Ancelotti is here we can start to organise ourselves from top to bottom and that the board back him to the hilt.

Slow down tiger, I never said that Digne wasn't good enough. In fact, I said he has massive potential, Mina too. And that goes for all of Brands signings. What I am saying is, we've spent nearly half a billion and we're in the bottom half of the table. Why is that?

Is it the manager or recruitment, either way, someone has messed up. So we sacked the manager, what does that leave us with. This is what I'm suggesting to you. If Brands or Walsh for that matter had of been such a great success, we'd never of appointed Ancelotti. The reason we have is because, our directors of football have failed.

They've failed the club, they've failed the managers they were supposed to serve. Moshiri or whosoever is running our club, have had enough. So they've finally hired somebody who has a track record of spending money.
You can't apply that way of thinking anywhere in life, why would you here?

"My car's tyres need changing, as does the gearbox, now that I've changed the gearbox might as well throw the car out".

Also DoF's usually have to sign up the managers anyway, so not like Moshiri went ahead and skipped him.

Also on the fitness theme, he's signed players not capable of playing straight away...especially that first window he was here.

I have no faith in him buying our players; I have much more faith in Ancelotti bypassing him and turning to the agents he prefers to work with.

Brands has had good signings so far
[/QUOTE

I don't agree. There's prospects for sure. A good signing to me, is someone who can come in and do more than a job. He's been here nearly 2 years. His record is poor and I don't see how he has improved what we have. The league table speaks for itself.

What I do see is, players who have massive potential. Digne, Mina etc. If you're in the the Dutch league that may cut it but we need players who will do it now. Quite frankly, his signings have been underwhelming at best, just like Walsh.

We've spent nearly half a billion, if you can't see that as a failure when we stand just above the relegation zone, you're not paying attention. By any measure that is a disgrace. And Walsh and Brands are equally culpable.

I've read some crap on this forum but by god this takes the cake.

Our problem since we brought brands in hasn't been that we've bought poorly it's that we've had a terrible manager that was out of his depth in charge.

Brands modle is to buy young up and coming talents develop them and sell them on for profit to pay for the next one/two to bring in. It's not his fault Moshiri had a hard on for someone who couldn't hack it.

Ferguson has just came in got them a shape and working hard and we've just beat Chelsea, drew with Leicester, man u and arsenal. Which just shows you how incompetent the previous manager was.

Also just look at how many of our players have picked up injurys now they've been asked to give 100%. They weren't fit, not even close. Another indictment of the previous manager.

Where we are in the leauge says more about Silva then our players. If Ferguson who's never managed can get results against teams like them what will anchelotti be able to accomplish with our squad.

I see the “here’s 5 players I’d keep, the rest just aren’t good enough, lad” brigade are out again across social media.

We’re not gonna see another large scale rebuild guys, sorry to break it to you.

Well we've got about 10 players that are surplus to requirements and need selling so we might need to sign people at some point.

This is honestly, so big for many reasons.

On a personal level, I can’t remember the last time I felt so optimistic about the future of the Club. But on a bigger level, this has changed the dynamic of how the Club is perceived not just by the short minded numpties in the media, but by footballers and agents.

When we got Silva, the only ex player the media could get to build him up was Troy Deeney. Before we even confirmed Ancelotti, there was a litany of genuine greats praising him to the heavens, it’s ridiculous the great players he has worked with, and the great players who love him. Top Players will now be more interested in coming to us because you will be managed by literally one of the greatest managers of the game.

Also, Ancelotti said in his book a few years ago, he prefers a family type club, not corporate institutions like Juve and PSG. I may be biased but I honestly think we are the best at that stuff, look at EITC, our relationship with past players, and the genuine goodness of our fans, I honestly believe this could be a perfect match.
I share that excitement.

However, I am fearful we wont get the best out of him if he has to labour under the culture of our coaching staff he inherits and some of the players here who hang about like a malevolent presence strangling anything good.

IMO he needs to come in here with a blowtorch and level the playing field he intends to work on. Hopefully Moshiri realises that and will back him all the way in doing that if he so wishes.

We cant have a manager like this go down in flames due to the culture of mediocrity and animosity that seeps through every brick of every building of this club. If Ancelotti fails to shift the dial here and succumbs to the leeches and parasites, no one of any standing - player or manager - will ever come here again.

I can't say I have any real clue how this is going to work out. It's a fantastic appointment, especially given our current state and I'm delighted, but it's so difficult to predict how managerial appointments will pan out in football.

It's the things that are certain are the things that please me the most:

- Ancelotti'll have been guaranteed serious backing in the transfer market. I'm looking forward to seeing who we bring in.
- We're now a more attractive proposition for players. Being constantly overlooked by our ideal targets has clearly held us back recently.
- Moshiri and his team have proven they have something about them in getting this done when few would have backed us. Ancelotti isn't rocking up at West Ham, Wolves, Leicester.
- It's a big statement of intent that elevates our name in football, at least temporarily. This is largely meaningless unless backed up with results, but it all helps.;
- In the case of poor performance, the players will have nowhere to hide.

Fitness has been a problem for a while. Our pre season games have been a joke

We were hopeless in the last two games. Basically they pulled their finger out for two matches then underlined how poor they are by being blitzed in that first half against Leicester and then that disgracefully inept performance yesterday.

Digne, Gomes, Mina, Bernard, Gbamin, Sidibe and Kean aren't bad buys when you compare them to Klaasen, Sandro and Keane - I'm sure Brands will get more time.

I think he cocked up with the centre-back situation specifically - Gomes and Gbamin have just been bad luck - getting a striker has never been straightforward and we actually have Niasse, Tosun, Richarlison, DCL and Kean.

For sure it will be a different relationship with Brands and Ancelotti than it was with Silva.

There are no guarantees but I'm glad we have a couple of heavyweights covering Europe in Brands and Ancelotti - that's never been the case in the past for our club.

How about the second half v Leicester?

Yesterday was awful but we still got a point

We are nowhere near full strength.

The squad shouldn’t be challenging for titles but it’s far from bottom of the table. We need to get healthy and add a few players, but it’s not like we need to completely overhaul the squad to compete

Well put it this way, if it was Howe people would be saying it stinks of Bill, just like they always try to when things are going bad, cant have it both ways.
Bill Kenwright played a big roll in getting Carlo, he would of had meetings with him and sold our project to him.
For once Bill has done very very well for us.

When you say would of had .... it means you don’t know .... IMHO Moyes was Bills choice he doesn’t look at the extravagant and expansive options .... look at the last 10 years ... this elks of ambitious new. Money
I believe the decision makers in this were Farhad an uncle Alister promising money

Thud and blunder.

Anyone thinks that the 4 games under Ferguson underlined that we have a team of decent players needs to think again. They are, apart from literally 2 or 3, utter dross. The best part of half a billion was wasted by the double Dutch disaster that befell this club in the last three years.
