Out of all the sports providers in America we hear very good things about Challenger and will be talking to them in the next few weeks.

I hope to go back next summer, they are brilliant mate, you would do well to link up with them

Just to bump the thread lads, i have since found out that if you are between 20-21 there could be a possibility of you taking part on this course. If you fancy a one year course with a view to a placement in America let me know ASAP

Hello mate.... I'm 36 and have the UEFA C liscence already................could you get me a job in America with some nice 21 year old girls.....thanks.

I have it all, a CRB, an official coaching number ( card for I.D.) off the welsh FA, first aid certificate, child welfare certificate......gissa job !!!!!!!

Not enough top level coaches in England.

We have 2000 currently, compared to 10,000 in Germany!!!

I am currently going through mu Badges....well I say currently, I start Level 1 this year, and well into getting as many as I can !

The biggest problem is gaining meaningfull employment when you have your badges. The 'C' badge , although not too difficult took approx 8 Months to complete as we only managed to attend 2 days every 6 weeks. The 6 weeks inbetween was obviously taken up coaching my youth team and doing paperwork and session planners for the badge. The 'B' licence takes much longer and is more intense. Trying to gain these qualifications whilst working full time and bringing up kids is difficult to say the least and where I live the prospects of any kind of career in coaching are just not available. I disagree that we have a shortage of coaches, we have a shortage of vacancies for Coaches to fill.

* Also, not knocking the lad who started the thread but this just highlights the fact that we are sending young, keen coaches overseas where other countries reap the rewards in years to come.

I think you just nailed the point as to why we dont have enough top level coaches, which we dont, as the numbers prove.

I would have to do it in my own time too, also working and bringing up 2 kids, with a wife at Uni!!!

My worry is your other point, were are the jobs ???!!!

Does this coaching in America business ever actually come off for young lids?0

When I was younger a friend of mine Kris had the opportunity of coaching in America as part of the 'camp America' thing...he was also a very talented footballer who also had the option of going to Wolves as a youth trainee ( i've explained in the past how Chris Evans was our county team manager before he took the job as Wolves academy director ), Kris chose the coaching abroad , his thinking was that if he didn't like it he could come back and would still have the Wolves opportunity to fall back on as he was only 16 at the time. Things worked out so well for him that he went on to coach a college team and became like a god out there ha ha, he was regulary in the local press and was a minor celebrity in the area he lived. He stayed out there for 15 years and has now moved back to this Country a few years ago and has a job as a football development officer somewhere down south wales i think..... but for every Kris there are a million others who get nothing more out of it than a summer working holiday.
