The funny thing is this is absolutely true. Walshy and Koeman have decided to turn us in to Slug FC.

Worrying part is we're likely to be stuck with some of these for a while.

I think it’s not that they cannot play together, it’s just, in the formation we play, with 1 attacking midfielder, they both want to be in the same position and they cannot be. so either Rooney plays there and Sigurdsson is left wing or Sigurdsson plays there and Rooney further back. Either way one of them is played out of position and not as effective.

I think realistically, rooneys actual role needs to be deeper and if he has any sense as it will prolong his career, he will take the role on and play as a deeper midfielder. Alongside gueye but not defensive, nore the link between gueye and siggy. Siggy makes a lot more runs past the striker than rooney does, and has the stamina to do so all game. I do not class rooney as an attacking midfielder, just as a CM who can get the ball and spray it to the wings or through for siggy to do something with.
