Winning the match and breaking our Anfield duck was the main thing, playing well really was not on our list of priorities if we were to win due to the circumstances. I’d rather play poorly and win, rather than play well and lose/draw.
Looking at the table this morning, we can even push for a Champions League spot, which to me would be the highlight of my 27 years supporting this club, even better than when we last won the FA Cup.
Last night reminded me of when Dan Gosling scored the winner in extra time, but only missed seeing the goal because ITV’s commercial break sequencer played up. I remember watching it with my now ex and when the commercials started she said “I bet you Everton will score now!”.
