I see a good deal on a TV on amazon.de, even allowing for vat and delivery to Ireland. It's originally for the German market, but apart from probably having a 2-pin plug and having to change the language settings to English is there any problem I'm not thinking of?

cost of import + duty + chance it's smashed in transit? vs get in your car and take the ferry over, buy it, out of packaging, back seat, no import fee or duty?

It might try to invade Poland so look out for that. Otherwise you'll be fine.

I think amazon would be responsible for it getting here safely and even with paying our higher vat rate (no customs duty to ship to Ireland) it's a bargain. Really I'm just trying to think if there's any reason it shouldn't work as well as one I bought in a shop here...?

I suppose warranty/service if there is a problem in a year might be an issue but it's a Samsung being bought from the Samsung store on amazon so hopefully it wouldn't be too much of a problem...?

I just can't see this ending well mate.

I'd be very careful.

It might complain about the wind, get angry at press conferences and try and encourage lots and lots of TVs to descend on Paris. It also might resent having to play multiple football matches in a week.
