Wat Tyler

Player Valuation: £70m
He was the business.
Dead at 22, every time I hear one of his songs it makes me think of what might have been. Rave On is one of the best things you will ever hear. 22 though, what might have been!!!!

I've probably posted this before but wtf.
Country artist Waylon Jennings was a 19 year old bass player with the Crickets. On that fateful day The Big Bopper was going to drive up to the gig they were due to play together. However, as he had a cold, young Jennings gave up his seat on the plane to him and he went by car.
True story.

What's worse is, the shock of this news caused his wife to have a miscarriage.

Absolute tragedy.

Similar thing with Stevie Ray Vaughan - he was wanting to get to the city of his following night's gig, so his friend Eric Clapton said "g'wed, take my seat on my helicopter". Crash, dead, tragedy.

I never knew that...good post

The day the music died...who knows what he would've gone on to do and be.
would've been interesting to see him go head to head with the UK giants of 60's pop.
not to mention the psychedelic / progressive / west coast hard rock of the late 60's

One of the great rock and roll originals. Also a gun-toting Texan. Apparently, the Big Bopper was found some distance from the crash site in possession of Buddy Holly's gun. One theory goes that Holly, known to be a nervous flyer, caused (or at least contributed to) the crash by panicking in turbulence and firing his gun. The Big Bopper initially survived the crash impact and set off to find help only to perish in the bad weather.

Could be utter cobblers........
