SS Great Eastern was an iron sailing steam ship designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and she was by far the largest ship ever built at the time of her 1858 launch. She finished her life as a floating music hall and advertising hoarding (for the famous department store Lewis's) in Liverpool...

Didn't the Great Eastern suffer a bodged launch that took suggestions from hundreds of engineers to finally get it down the slipway? More fitting that a symbol of such a mutant birth is left woth them.

I quite like it where it is . Originally our ground and a piece of our history still there looking down on them , it makes me smile . We should make more use of this , their fume would be immense.
