Father arrested after pickax and shotgun used in family disturbance in Palatka

A Palatka family disturbance over a couple beers led to arrest of one man’s arrest on charges of burglary and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, authorities say.
The incident at Songbird Road in Palatka began with an argument between Elvis Rhodes, 55, and his son Christopher Rhodes, 28, and daughter Elaina Rhodes, 34. The argument started because Elvis took two beers from a cooler on Christopher and Elaina’s front porch, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Elvis Rhodes eventually went to the store and bought beer to replace what he took, then left. He then returned to the home, which shared property with his home, to talk but the younger Rhodeses refused to come out. Elvis Rhodes then went and got a pickax and began hitting the door with it, the Sheriff’s Office said. Christopher responded by getting a shotgun and firing through the door, whereupon Elvis Rhodes left and called for help.
Elvis Rhodes was arrested for burglary and two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond in the Putnam County jail.
