Brands and Carlo are going to get a boatload of cash come the summer.

I have been impressed by Brands in terms of making the bloated squad more slimline.

Transfer wise he is better than Walsh given the restrictions he has faced.

This summer, we have deadwood gone, a healthy wage bill to use so here hoping we have a good budget to bring in key players and with Carlo, I think we will attract and find the best.

This is true. Read th3 panic on these forums when West Ham were trying to sign him. He was very good at that point.

Not really arsed either way on this, think he's done a good job overall with his business, my only problem with him is he seems to leave us short every year in certain positions.

I have no idea what his actual job at Ajax is, like day to day, but they have produced plenty that have been sold for a few bob. Klassen, Van De sommet at Utd, and some CH who went for a bomb.

Even if thats true it's still a bit of a climb down from what you said. 80% of people effectively saying 'yeah i'm happy with that' is a bit different to us 'all being up in arms'. I was reasonably content when we signed him, because when he'd been good he looked great, and there was a hope he might be able to find that level a bit more consistently. There was more than enough to have made me concerned though, and really I expect a DoF to have a bit more of an idea of whether there's more to come than I do.

The two jobs are practically the same. Come in the top 3 of a league with only 3 big teams and you have the pick of virtually any Dutch talent you want as you have a massive historical name and can offer guaranteed European football every season and pay more than anyone else in your league.

Or...

Try and break into the top 4 in a league which contains six of the biggest clubs in Europe all with bigger budgets than you, better players, and can offer European football. You’re in a scrap with about 12 other teams for any talent that emerges on the market, and you’re bound by FFP so can’t pay as high wages as some of your direct competitors.

But yeah let’s get Overmars in for doing a slightly easier job than the one Brands had at PSG, rather than sticking with the guy who has been here for three seasons and is already turning us around.
