Agree completely, he's always been an obnoxious tit though. in fact I think he said something like 'to fell a tree you hit it in the trunk' or something to Jr, doesn't indicate that he had any concern for Blackwell.

Nah I think he was thinking about the health of Blackwell. Reasoning is he clearly said the other guy is going to get hurt if he carries on to the head, and the referee wasn't stopping it due to repeated blows there. So he told his son to take him out to the body; force him down for a count.

Obviously as a trainer he still wanted his son to earn the stoppage, but realised the other kid was being too brave for his own good and needed the wind taken out of him to stop him.

no mate, dont be naive
he knew eubank jr's head punches werent concussive enough to take blackwell out, as he'd already landed about 200, he wanted his son to go to the body instead as they desperately wanted a stoppage and the head shots weren't doing it. ive found it pretty low how eubank sr in particular has came out and lapped up the good words about him afterwards, pair of idiots.

That's what I said though. But also he specifically said the kid would get hurt if he carried on - that's not naive, they are the words he used.

So his logic was if the lack of concussive blows were not going to stop a brave opponent to the head, then the best option would be stopping him via cumulative blows to the body, which would also avoid causing serious neurological damage.

to be fair he got schooled by garcia that night.

i hope to see garcia v brook at some point this year but garcia is a smooth operator, can box smart aswell as fight. would be a tough fight to call.
 
Also, why do you all hate the Eubanks? They're entertainers who do what's best for themselves in the business.

There's a reason Billy Joe Saunders is a champ and nobody gives a toss, yet Eubank Jr isn't and gets more hype. Because Saunders is dull as hell, while Eubank is an entertainer with everything from how his corner works, his mannerisms and his shot selection.

I saw the same hate for Naseem Hamed too and never understood it.
