Boxing

He fell into the ego trap IMO. Everybody likes to believe they can be what they were at thier best. I still think I could go back in the Marines and I can barely run for the bus.

If he'd been clever or even just had good people round him he'd have fought a patsy to get the rust off, then a decent tune up and followed that with a guy like Senchenko. That'd be enough for a title fight with Malinaggi who isn't a big hitter. He could have been retiring again as a world champ within 18 months. He didn't do this because he needs to see himself as a champion and a warrior. Even Genghis Khan and Julius Caesar picked thier fights.

He was good enough for 6 rounds but then his fitness stopped him moving and he didn't have the head movement to avoid the punches. A bigger hitter would have had him out sooner.

He doesn't necessarily need to retire but he does need to box clever.

Good post mate.. You don't get better at much the older you get ! ( although I can kid myself sometimes ! )

its not man city though mate it a boxer who supports man city like a soldier who supports wigan ffs!

Oh, I know Fozzy, it's just I reckon he wants to be successful just like his team ! A title fight at whatever its called this week to finish his career would have been the plan..

Ricky Hatton has never lost a fight in Britain.

Ricky Hatton has never lost a fight to a body punch.

That was true until Del went to watch him.

spot on post mate

Just as well he didn't scrape through that on points or they would have had him in there against someone who could cause him serious damage, Senchenko isn't even a puncher and Hattons face was a mess come the finish.

The man needs help, he won't get it in the boxing ring.
