Blues abroad needing to explain why they are Blues...

Those of you who haved lived or just travelled a lot abroad, I bet you have been through this. I have, MANY times. Here is the latest. I am currently in Budapest. Yesterday a TV guy came round, he was OK, asked where I'm from, but quickly asked about footy when I replied Liverpool. When I said I am an Evertonian he simply asked "Why?". He was not sarcastic, he just could not understand. I blasted some facts at him. First of all "90% of my family are Blues, Dad, Grandad, family thing". He backed off. But it pisses me off. Been thru this all over the world. Anyone else?

I have not given up. I see it as my job to EDUCATE them. I always start with something like "Yes, LFC have won more, are more famous..." etc. And then I tell you them a few facts. Many times, it worked, telling it as it is. Some even thanked me...

True, but I add a few historical facts, too. THAT often works well

Keep it up brother.

I just tell them that if they ever visit Liverpool, not to be surprised if the taxi driver, hotel staff, and most people they engage with, will be Toffee's.

They have usually fallen for the RS narrative ( Lie) of Socialism FC.

I kinda feel for my American in laws who know very little about soccer but given that I'm their only real exposure to the sport, think Everton are probably the biggest football club in the world.

May have something to something to do with their national captain playing for the RS now.

Just tell them it's because of their football terrorism that we aren't better known. They could have had the good grace to allow us overtake them as the premier team in the city, just as we did to them. Of course because they have the average mental age of a five year old they just decided to kick off and get everyone banned instead. Just at the point in history when it mattered most...

When abroad and someone clocks your a Scouser the first thing I get is am I a RS? and then secondly I must love the Beatles, both answers are no and no.
