Player Valuation: £35m
More detailed than the top 50 list in the other thread http://www.bsports.com/football-index-english-premier-league

According to the list,

-Howard is the 10th best keeper
-Leighton Baines is the best left back (obviously)
-Distin is the 3rd best centre back
-Coleman is the 6th best right back
-Our holding midfield players didn't rank
-Pienaar is the 4th best left midfielder
-Mirallas is the 3rd best right midfielder
-Fellaini is the 2nd best attacking midfielder
-Strikers didn't rank (surprise surprise)

As discussed in the other thread, their methodology is clearly flawed and prone to anomalies, but I'm curious what you all think. Also interesting that in every category except right back, holding mid, and striker our best player ranks higher than liverpool's best.

We are better than Liverpool so I should expect our best player to be better than theirs. They've only got one quality player and he is deranged.

Is right.

EDIT: a severe lack of Darron Gibson there, and they reckon Lowton is better than Zabaleta as well as Joey O'Brien being better than Ashley Cole. Pure wham.

Its an American website.

Explains it all there, they probably looked at Stats.

*rollseyes*

You're correct, it does look at stats, and as I admitted in my post, it's flawed. Us stupid americans just can't get the hang of this soccer business apparently

Three different threads on some idiot's opinions?

His view on the game is no more valid than mine is.

It's not an opinion, it uses "objective statistics." Here's the methodology footballtop50

Obviously Football can't be reduced to stats, which is why you have a few anomalies on that list, I just thought a few on here would be interested in it.

Its basically the optim index with the companies own algorythms built in to equalize the positions isn't it?

obviously its a load of crap but they have got it right that are weaknesses are midfield and up front.

So it has results you agree with but its a load of crap, it also has our two best players as our two best players, with these attitudes that all new performance anaylism is a load of crap, its no wonder the England team and its foundations are stuck in the stone age

I think it's a useful tool as long as you don't rely solely on these sort of objective metrics. You need to put certain things into context and consider them in the light of the things that are sort of intuitively obvious about certain players. IMO this should be one of many factors used to decide how good a player is.
