BLACK NETS

Is it me or do you hate the black nets they have on the goals at some grounds inc GP? There really tight i.e no ripple when the ball hits the net and barely visible. ON more than one occasion this season watching us, it took a good few seconds to realise a goal had actually been scored.

It actually makes me enjoy a goal being scored less. Theres no sound and it just doesnt look as good.

Surely it must affect the players too? I mean you know its more difficult to shoot accuratly when you go kick a ball between a goal frame up the local park with your mates, than it is to shoot at a goal with a visible white net?

I really do think it takes the visual spectacle out of the goals scored this season. I know we have them, Chelsea used to i think, and definatly more teams have these monstrosities in place.

If it didnt bother you before, it will now. (y)

it is to help the supporters behind the goal see more clearly i believe. so they are actually there with match going fans in mind.

however, i dislike them a lot. uniteds are great. just the right amount of give and a nice clear white net that can be seen clearly. liverpool's are nasty. box nets that have gone wrong. far too tight. the old wembley had great nets with the green staunchon at the back. nice bit of give in them before they tightened them up too much. the new wembley nets are really nasty. worse than anfield. if you go for the really deep box net effect it needs loads of loose netting at the back.

i'm sure some will read this and not have a clue what i'm talking about as they have never noticed, but i bet there are a couple who know exactly what i mean!! lol!!

I know exactly what you mean mate, and agree!(y)

I know a lot of the teams are going with the black nets as it is easier for the eyes. Man City were the first to use it I believe.

Absolutely bemused at the suggestion that you enjoy goals less because of the colour of the net that the ball hits, don't understand that at all

Its not the colour as such, its just the fact that you can hardly see the net. And the fact theres no sound. Goals dont look as good. Mikels free kick against Hull would have looked so much better with a normal net.

do you sit behind the said net ?
as has been stated it's so that those that do can see better. talk about moaning about anything.
the white lines arent as bright these days maybe they should mix some reflective stuff to make them sparkle, and those diamond patterns etc on the pitch, they make it a different green to in the olden days, which no doubt spoils your enjoyment too. doesn't matter that there are 9 different posts in the way and you have to duck to see the ball when it's above head hight, thats all ok but the nets are a real problem.

I knew as soon as I made this thread some joker was gonna say racist. If it helps, I hate the green ones they have in France just as much :)

I dont even care, to me, goals dont look as good when they go in. I get more satisfaction out of seeing other goals scored in other goals around the prem. I like the sound, and the ripple, and the fact that you can actually see theres a net.

I just made this thread out of interest to see if anyone else had noticed it or had the same mental problem with it.

Sorry I asked. *blows rasberry at you all and goes to buy a massive white goal net to hang over the house*
