Which has been more disappointing:
  1. The Champions League season. All the promise that we were back. End up signing Simon Davies and Phil Neville, then having to listen to Middlesboro fans sign to us in September:
"Champions League, you're having a laugh..."
UEFA Cup, you're having a laugh....
Carling Cup, you're having a laugh....
Premier League, you're having a laugh...."
  2. Martinez season 2. Finishing 5th, thinking we could get in the top 4. Sign Lukaku permanently, kept Barkley and then...
  3. This season. Spending all that money and being a significantly worse team than last season, with a manager and DoF seemingly at odds and signing players independently in the same position and turning a free-flowing Martinez team into the slowest, and most impotent side ever assembled.

Is that the 13th placed one that won 4 home games you're on about? Because there'd already been a full season since then.

This season for sure, the way things are going IMO.

We all thought we would have been kicking on and that we would be right in the hunt for a top six, at least, place.

Instead we see our manager exposed as a one dimensional, disinterested fraud and the owner revealing that in his eyes he expects to lose against the top teams

Oh....and international breaks have become welcome respites

Definitely the season after finishing fifth with Martinez. We had a good young side, a positive manager who seemed to say all the right things and respect our history, good football and were looking to push on....and then it all came undone...
The champs league season would always be a struggle we werent prepared and didnt recruit well.
This season i think every realistic fan was expecting a similar finish to last season maybe a little higher, as our squad settled and we pushed on with key signings next year.
