Current Affairs Big development in Madeline McCann case

I have deleted my earlier post as on reflection it was not in the best taste and I apologise, yet saying that I still can’t totally disregard the parents role in all of this.

Know what you mean.

This is a subject I tend to stay away from.

Not too far from an ideology of blaming rape victims for drinking/wearing revealing clothes.
How is it anything like that? The parents must shoulder some of the blame, I have a 4 year old and an 18 month old, and it wouldn't even cross my mind to leave them alone asleep while I headed off for food and wine. That's just straight up negligent parenting.

I honestly think that’s a completely different conversation . For example There is no crime in this country Of “dressing proactively“ however under the children’ s Act

“Under child neglect laws a parent (or legal guardian) is judged to have neglected the child if the parent has acted in a manner that was likely to cause harm or injury (physical or mental) to the child”

Im sorry but for me your comparison is apples and oranges . Parents are regularly and rightly prosecuted because their behaviour injures , kills or endangers their children rape victims are Never prosecuted for the manner in which they dress.

No it is not, parents have to look after their children by at least being in the same building as they are, comparing leaving your children alone to a woman wearing a short skirt is a bit off, what has happened to the McCanns is horrific beyond believe, but leaving your children alone in a hotel room is neglect

Justifying the terrible action through accusing the victim.

"If she never walked home alone. If she never drank all that ale. If she never had a short skirt/led him on"

If, if, if.

"if they didn't leave the child with intermittent checks"

It's that ideology.

You can, if you wanted, blame parents for most abductions. There has to be a moment of opportunity that presented.

The action was what it was.

Should they have left children alone on their apartment with just regular checks? No. (What they did wasn't far from what Butlins used to do with their evening chalet patrol...)

But it doesn't mean they got what they had coming to them and fair game for the sick BANTZ jokes.

Is exactly my opinion on the matter.

90%+ of reported kidnappings are committed by family members, of the other 10% I'd be confidant in saying that most of those wouldn't have happened had 1 or both parents been near by. Giving your young children sleeping meds to get them off to sleep so you can head out with your mates is an absolutely mad thing to do, it's indefensible and how they have not been charged with negligence is beyond me.

Nonsense that mate - Calpol.

It was even included within the Leveson Inquiry.

Which is just one of the reasons you don't leave them in a hotel room alone cos you fancy some tapas.

Like I said though, whatever you think of the parents it's not the kids fault, I personally wouldn't leave my kids alone in the house never mind in a foreign place, they did but that doesn't take away from the fact that the real victim here is Madeline, and she shouldn't just become the butt of jokes because people don't agree with how her parents behaved

I can only hope and pray that this is a significant breakthrough that will bring closure to this matter

I know some people question the parents conduct for leaving their children alone whilst they went to have dinner with their friends but haven’t we all made mistakes. No parent is perfect. people label them as the worst parents in the world and that they should be in prison when there are children out there who are physically beaten to death and sexually abused by their own parents.

No one deserves what they have had to go through. If anything the Netflix documentary reiterated my belief that they were innocent and that this was just an awful tragedy.

Leaving your kids alone and going to dinner isn’t a mistake.... it’s a choice.... and one they tragically made.
