5 m for an unproven 17 year old in the prem? it sounds a little dicey..and I can't say he would end up in the first team straight away, would he? Surely we havent come all the way looking for young kids to play, when there is proven talent out there.

didnt he also accept the bid and recommend that he speak to us as he has a better chance of gaining first team experience... im sure i read that somewhere.

i really hope we get him... i know its a lot and we should be getting people that are ready now etc but from what (little) i've seen of the lad he looks like he's gonna be a very good player, similar to Gerrard. A complete midfielder who can tackle, pass and shoot.

I wouldnt mind us getting him in and then getting someone like scharner or bradley for a couple of mill who can take the burden off Ramsey until he's ready to make the step up.

Yes I think it would be fantastic if we could pull this signing off, but what I merely meant was, we should really be actively looking for proven talent now. But yes you are very correct, we need to be planning for the future, and to do that we need to bring in potential players..since moyes has a knack of making potential into great on occasion. ie Lescott etc.

I think we only need 3 or 4 brilliant players, and some squad players to make a truly brillant team capable of running the distance, and getting into the top 4. Personally id be happy with 5th again..maybe we need to stablise there for a few seasons eating away until we get the right players in, who are world class..but who am i kidding haha

5 million for a 17 year old?

he must be as good as pele if moyes is going pay that.

looks like a morale booster for the fans. can't see him choosing us over united.

villa, newcastle and city yes... but i think i read the third club interested is arsenal!

at least we are going for the sort of player the big guns are. and he might even choose us.

Didn't Arse pay 12 million for Wallcott at 16.

yeah I'd be happy with 5th and a good cup run (hopefully winning something) next season. Its going to be hard for any team to break into the big 4 but I agree with your points, we do need players for the present, and we definately need a bigger squad because all the games really took its toll towards the end of the season.
it all depends on how much moyes has i suppose as to whether we can get ramsey and still build the team for the present

Arsenal and Everton have both matched Sir Alex Ferguson's £5m bid and all three clubs are currently holding talks with Ramsey and his representatives.

"We would prefer it if Aaron signed for Manchester United, to be honest,? Ridsdale told the South Wales Echo. "The simple reason being that, from our perspective, we want him to come back to Cardiff next season.
"I am sure that is something which all our supporters will be hoping for as well.?

Piss of Pete!

Latest developments, do not bode well!

ARSENAL edged closer to signing £5million Aaron Ramsey after Cardiff City’s wonderkid met Arsene Wenger in Switzerland.

Ramsey flew to Basel to meet the Arsenal manager, who faces a three-cornered fight to sign the 17-year-old midfield sensation.
Ramsey, christened Rambo by Cardiff fans, met Everton officials on Thursday and visited Manchester United’s Carrington training ground on Friday. He then flew to Switzerland on Saturday to see Wenger.

All three Premier League clubs have made written bids for Ramsey, with United promising to loan the player back to Cardiff next season. Realistically, Everton are the outsiders in the race to sign him.

Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale said: “I spoke to Aaron on Friday night.

“He told me he’d had a great day at United and was on his way to see Arsene. After that, the final decision is up to the boy.

“Aaron spoke to Sir Alex Ferguson before visiting United. He’s a sensible lad and will listen to what Arsene has to say.”
Ramsey only started his first game for Cardiff in January. He starred after coming on a sub in the FA Cup Final defeat to Portsmouth.

Agreed. I'm happy that where going in for talented youngsters but I'd rather go for more experienced players who are ready to be playing week in week out.

Ramsey may well be a world beater in time but at the moment all he is is potential and wouldn't command a place in the first team.

It depends what Moyes' budget is. If he has something approaching £30m, then it makes sense to set £5m aside for a talented youngster. I assume that Moyes has a keener eye than he had when he signed our last young talent, the Scottish Rooney.

Agreed. If we've got 30 million then I wouldn't be worried at all. If we've got 20 million and where spending 5 of it on a untried youngster who won't be a regular I'd be a bit worried.
