Best Player Moyes has ever signed?

Gotta give it to Baines. This judged in terms of original price paid and what he's worth now, his influence at the club and the way he fits us so smugly. His personality does a lot for me, really. Terriffic player that never whines, always modest like.
Cahill is obviously up there as well, but lets avoid the obvious answers.

In terms of footballing ability I'd have to go with Pienaar. So intelligent with or without the ball. I'd say Fellaini but a lot of his work is down to his size and strength, even though he has a chest like velcro.

This is tough

So I'll say Mirallas

but mean LBaines really[/QUOTE

i know you where joking but i would have said miralles has the potential to become a absolutly supurb player, we just look a different class when hes on the ball, but value for money signing has to be gibson £500.000 man united must have been mad i couldnt believe it when i heard that

Cahill for me. Considering his price and his importance over the years.
But Fellaini and Baines are close

Jelavic & Mirallas.....what can you say, brilliant business and potential to rise high in this list

And...Gibson...omg.. 500,000 what a buy

Most have gone for players who have been with us for four or five years at least. Stands to reason obviously.

Another question because it seems we're all excited by some of our recent signings;

Who do you think has the potential to get a mention if we re-posted this in 4-5yrs time?

Me, I honestly think anyone of the Irish lads could be a major player for us, coleman especially.

For £2 million, we got 6 and a half years service, a fourth place finish, a cup final and the most talented player Moyes has ever signed in Arteta. He was only 22 when we first signed him as well. He was the signing that gave us that £20m player quality in the middle of the park that allowed us to compete with the top teams consistently for a while. Ridiculous value for money, whatever we were paying him in the end. We then made an £8m profit when he left, aged 29.

That's my opinion anyway. You could make great cases for a whole host of names, tbf.

Arteta and Pienaar left at similar times and we missed Pienaar a lot more than Arteta which I wouldn't have thought prior to it happening.

Arteta would be awesome in our current set-up playing a similar role to which he does at Arsenal. I think the problem in his last season or two, especially after Pienaar left was that he was our only creative player and we were over reliant on him. The midfield of Osman, Pienaar, Cahill and Arteta with the Yak up top and Cars behind was superb and was Arteta at his best for us.

Best player is a really difficult one as we've had a umber of players who've excelled, if he hadn't left I'd have said Lescott as I think he has all the attributes you want in a top centre back. Of the current crop I'd go for Baines as I think he has been so consistent since he finally made the left back spot his own.

From what I've seen I'd rather have Gibson there mate. I'm not saying hes a better player than Arteta but he's more effective in that role for us.
