i lived there for a while.

It is posh, unless you go live on the hidden away council estates then the areas are lovely and posh.

When i was a kid i used to go the park round the corner from my house in the close, never had any trouble. Or even going down by the fields or under the flyover thing, never any trouble or danger to an 9 year old me.

utter mutants in whiston

Scotland. Cheaper cost of living, lots of beautiful countryside and a reasonable prospect of being selected for the national rugby team inside four years.
You are having a laugh
Try living up here in Aberdeen
Far too expensive
Try Up Holland (posh skem) you get a house for half the price .

Skem is just council estates and roundabouts mate.

No it's not. Elmers Green is a good as any part of the North West, very big houses and a golf course.....Skem gets a bad rap from snobs who don't open their eyes......

However, in reply to the question, just look to any village outside of the major cities and depending on the size of your wallet you will find somewhere nice........

Edinburgh has to be in contention -beautiful, grand city. Walk down the main street, lined with historic mouments, and you have an extinct volcano on your left, a castle on the hill to your right, and the sea is at your back. Outside of London it's only Liverpool that has such an expansive vista in the UK.

A world city, basically, but it's also great to live in - quite small, magnificent for bevvying, beautiful countryside right on the doorstep [used to ride into the Pentland hills in about 40 mins from the city centre], decent opportunities for work. Quite socially stratified place, which is a good or bad thing depending on your POV. I live in Manchester now and you're never more than 100 yards away from a scally in an anorak, no matter where you are. Edinburgh wasn't like that.

Drawbacks are first and foremost the SNP. If that parochial pish rises from the dead in the form of another independence vote then I'd swerve Scotland full stop.
Minor stuff like the road links are sub-standard for a major city. The sea is there but it's not very well integrated to the city - a lot of old British port cities are like this (e.g. North Liverpool). If you want easy access to the mountains proper then you're 1.5/2 hours away in Edinburgh - the highlands are amazing but there are closer places to live.

Seconding the Edinburgh shout above. Beautiful city, but too expensive to live in so you'd need to live outside and commute in. You can get over from Fife in just 20 minutes mind and Fife is alright if not a bit the Wirral of the east coast.

Skip the UK and go to Ireland (not Dublin) if you can.

Belfast is a good place to work if you are in the NHS, it has 3 big hospitals in the city centre and a couple more within 20 miles. Belfast is fairly compact but doesn't suffer the same pollution or congestion as other cities. It is a good place for a few years work experience. It isn't as expensive as most British cities.

Looking at relocating to the UK in the future i.e. next 5 years.
Where has been the best place to live and work for you?
Will be likely working within the NHS.
Parbold Newburgh, Wrightington areas mate if you're looking for work in the NHS, Wrightington, ormskirk and southport hospitals all within easy reach.
