Best place to work and live in the UK.

East Yorkshire has a lot going for it. Beverley often listed as one of the top ten places to live. House prices remain affordable and plenty of opportunities within the NHS in the numerous hospitals scattered around the county. Try and avoid Hull. Without doubt it is turning into a nasty place due to various factors. City of Culture it ain't.
One big downside is having to negotiate the death trap that is the M62 to get to our games.

Wherever you move will probably be a step down in natural beauty, but the Harrogate, Wetherby, Knaresbrough, York area is really nice, loads of beautiful villages in and around them and great for commuting on the A1. Yorkshire dales just up the road too.

You are having a laugh
Try living up here in Aberdeen
Far too expensive
Try Up Holland (posh skem) you get a house for half the price .
Isn't Aberdeen the centre of the oil industry in Scotland? Can't imagine why that would make houses more expensive there than in other parts of the country...

Fact remains that Scotland GENERALLY is cheaper than many parts of England GENERALLY: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/news/looking-to-escape-to-the-country-scottish-properties

Not everyone works in the oil business
Like myself and others Aberdeen is a very expensive place to live
And not just houses either

If you are wanting scenery - anywhere near the lake district - Bowness, Windermere, Kendal. Pricey though, and lots of tourists to deal with.
The Lake district is an amazing place but I wonder what it's like to live there when the tourism gets going. You've got an army of pensioners laying siege to the place each summer, can't swing a cat without hitting Agnes and her trekking poles.
Mate of mine lived in Castleton in the Peak District - nowhere near Windermere levels of tourism but pretty high all the same, very scenic place just under Mam Tor. He'd literally have to turf people out of his garden, peering into his front room thinking it was some sort of model village.
