Best Away You've Been to

Goodness me. 1984-85 season had so many. But October 84 was INSANE.

Liverpool away, Sharp, "What a FANTASIC goal". Enough said. My second favorite.

Seven days later we destroyed United at Goodison. Best display I have ever seen. Now comes the good part, and my favorite away game. 3 days later we went to Old Trafford for a League Cup tie. Beat them. Pandemonium.

In the space of 10 days, we were all in dream land.

That's all I want, one season where we are travelling the country knowing we are the best in the land.

Bedford Town.Best view I've ever had leaning on one of the posts.

I was there in that 4th round game. Stand looking into the ground in the Everton end - fine. Turn around 180 degrees and all you saw was fields with cows and sheep grazing! Brilliant!

But the best was at the end of that cup run: Wembley in the Scoreboard End on that unforgettable day when we came from two down to win. Absolutely manic in the Everton end at the end of the game!!

all the main ones I went to was when we were crap but my main one was this -

3-2 qpr away - 2-0 down ht and a last minute free kick winner from Hinchcliffe. I was in the lower tier back row, went mental, got yanked back by a policeman for some reason and given a letter about encroachment on the pitch and behaviour. Never knew why I was given that considering I was on the back row lol still got the letter somewhere.

also West ham away winning 1-0 and Cottee scoring, massive 3 points at the time in our battle to avoid relegation..really felt the stress heading down there and during the game and the away support was truly amazing that day.

Of the coach load that I went with that day only four of us had tickets.Alleged to be 18 thousand there that day,but with the amount who bunked in maybe more like 20-22.Great atmosphere and all the way to Wembley without conceding.

The other that stands out was Notts county in the Fa Cup, low skidding header from mr A Gray! So many away days both league and cup, awesome memories, keep telling my three sons that we were the best in the land and knew we were gonna win every game. They look at me and say were City and Chelsea good! Didn't look outside the top two places!

Seriously, we were that good. We went into every home game expecting to score 3,4 or 5 goals - EVERY time. If we conceded a goal, there was never any panic among the team or supporters, it was like ah so what, is that all ya got? Sunderland (H 4-1) is a good example.

As for the away games - as that is the subject of the thread, even those games, you just knew we were going to win, it was an incredible season, the team just had so much confidence. It was a 4-4-2 system played to absolute perfection. The infamous Spurs game away at the end of the season - the country's two best teams, facing of, in a hostile atmosphere away from Goodison, no problem. I actually thought we would win 2 or 3-0, so did the team, so did the supporters.

What a post! Like the rest of the lads on here, some great memories coming back from following the Blues! In no particular order

- Super Kev scoring in a scramble! Ended up in town until the early hours until the early hours on a Monday/Tuesday evening. Seeing that gobshite Gerrard leaving a late foot in and getting sent off for being a sly [Poor language removed] - knew I'd hate the [Poor language removed] for ever ([Poor language removed] all has changed). Franny having a tussle and when 5 minutes injury time went up, we just knew!!
- Elland Road in 95 - seeing a fat kid looking like Gazza playing togger on the pitch opposite what is now McDonalds at half eleven on the Sunday morning, to doing star jumps on the pitch after scoring our third, to leaving by the South Stand at the end of the game having started at the other end of the pitch
- Anderlect - singing 'And we love our Everton in the Irish bar' having driven from Liverpool to Stanstead to get a cheap flight & getting piss wet through having spluttered through pepper spray and bother all night to watch Radzinski not give a [Poor language removed] as we got beat 2 -0. If only the team on the pitch gave as much as those off it we'd have been a right [Poor language removed] team
- Villareal : driving down from Barcelona, breaking into El Madrigal on the morning of the game & taking penalties on the morning of the match! Getting Ossie's shirt was [Poor language removed] all consolation for the disgrace that happened that night
- Malaga : just for being with my best mate! Another away trip, another loss....didn't give a [Poor language removed] as the San Miguel festival and stupid hats more than made up for it!!! Another trip where an early visit pre-match to the pitch saw us escorted off by some unhappy hosts. I just wanted to see a goal for the Blues on foreign shores for [Poor language removed] sake!

Probably too many more to mention, travelling from Albuferia to Sporting on the train for hours only for us not to turn up again may get an honorary (dis)mention along with our watershed at Vale Park on another piss wet night but when you are almost giving up hope, you know there is another Rotterdam lurking away somewhere inside our Blue Boys and that's why we give up our time, money & love! See you Saturday

A 3-0 win in the League Cup at Old Trafford in the 1970s is a good memory.
Tommy Docherty, then the Manure manager, provided me with two tickets in their main stand near the directors box and we battered them
Stood on the Stretford End that night with my Uncle who was a Utd fan....me aged about 12-13 in my Everton scarf.started at the top and ended at the bottom...all fortunately good humoured.
