Bernard was a gamble on a free transfer. If he doesn't make the grade in this rough and tumble league at least he and we will have tried. I prefer Lookman who at least does sometimes look threatening. The other winger, Walcott is a washout panic Big Sam buy.

I wouldn’t say ‘free’ mate, there was a big signing on fee involved. The package Bernard was after was one of the reasons Inter baulked at getting him in.

He isn't a gamble. He has a created a highlights real that already should allow us to get a transfer fee that will reimburse hes signing on fee and wages.
I actually we will see the full potential next season, after a full pre season and a full understanding of what the premier league entails.

Not renowned for goals.

Good wingers contribute *some goals.. But their job is to create chances.. Which he seems to be doing.

Not every winger is a ronaldo or salah type goal getter

We are very thin in the goals column though and either him or Walcott really needs to step up. Right now if it isn´t Richarlison or Sigurdsson we´re relying on a set piece...

If we do get striker in January it will be interesting to see where he plays as I’m assuming Richarlison will go back out on the left wing. I’m assuming he will play on the right.

Well yes mate considering him and Richarlison both play LW. If we had an actual decent centre forward Bernard would be on the bench.
Because hes not as good as we initally thought.

He wasnt signed as a squad player though, he was massivley hyped, possibly over hyped, remains to be seen.

So you’d prefer Lookman over Bernard ( who has created more chances from open play per minute played than everybody in the league with the exception of David Silva )
Fair enough lad , the rest of us are obviously missing something here

...his career goal scoring record is relatively poor, not sure i’d be expecting him to contribute many. What he has over the likes of Lookman is the ability to keep possession. I think that’s a particular part of Silva’s team strategy, especially away from home.
One of the major aims of a football team should be keeping possession of the football
Bernard is very good at this
