Advocate of Sensible transfer policy
As we await the announcement of our new manager, Frank Lampard, the rumours circulating across media are that his arrival will bring big changes. Old coaching guard, particularly Ferguson, look likely to depart, a new approach to transfers with reports of using connection to Chelsea's youth set up and a suggestion that Frank will want significant say in transfers.

This seems to have coincided with the conclusions, or at least initial findings, of the clubs strategic review, something many have welcomed for some time (albeit in slightly less turbulent circumstances) and gives rise to positivity of a levelling up of the club.

None of this would be possible without the dirty, difficult job done by Benitez. Routing out the DoF, making tough decisions regarding our recruitment, shining a light on our coaching, medical department and club standards.

Might we in time, reflect on the work Benitez did and realise that in spite of initial results, he was a necessary part of the transformation of the club - albeit in its infancy.

As his fellow countryman Picasso said "every act of creation is first an act of destruction" and the necessary destruction of Benitez will allow our new manager to build Everton back better.

It might be too early to say "congratulations Rafael" but maybe we could start with "thank you"

Removed Brands and Donachie who both were underperforming in their respective roles.

Brought in Gray who's a baller for peanuts.

Brought in Patterson & Mykolenko who could prove good additions down the line.

People will scoff now as they did in the aftermath of Silva/Alladyce even Carlo but once the raw emotion subsides people will acknowledge some positives that have been done in the last 6 months.

Froze out Digne, sold him to a team playing against us just over a week later for him to assist. Taking a squad player on loan from the same team who was ineligible and cup tied and now taking up a domestic loan spot. All this a good few weeks before the window shut.

Cheers.

Allowed us to buy two long term replacements for a player who clearly wanted out.

I’m happy to see the positives. There were negatives too but a lot of those were pre-existing.

I think his appointment was naive - he was going to have had to be phenomenal to work out - I see the reasoning though, an authoritarian was probably what the team needed but they don’t seem to react to any type of manager.

I hope whoever comes in next lasts a few years, we absolutely need some stability and foresight!
