This seems to have coincided with the conclusions, or at least initial findings, of the clubs strategic review, something many have welcomed for some time (albeit in slightly less turbulent circumstances) and gives rise to positivity of a levelling up of the club.
None of this would be possible without the dirty, difficult job done by Benitez. Routing out the DoF, making tough decisions regarding our recruitment, shining a light on our coaching, medical department and club standards.
Might we in time, reflect on the work Benitez did and realise that in spite of initial results, he was a necessary part of the transformation of the club - albeit in its infancy.
As his fellow countryman Picasso said "every act of creation is first an act of destruction" and the necessary destruction of Benitez will allow our new manager to build Everton back better.
It might be too early to say "congratulations Rafael" but maybe we could start with "thank you"
