From Beattie's Myspace page (allegedly, I sgould add, as I lifted it from NSNO, and haven't seen the original weblog):

I must begin this blog by thanking everyone who has sent messages to my account. The amount of well wishing messasges and support I have recieved has been amazing and my family and I really appreciate it. Thankyou very much.

Right here goes. Thankyou to the fans of Everton Football Club. During my whole term at the Toffees your support has been exceptional. Even when the transfer speculation was rife I had fans coming up to me, while shopping, in my car, with the family just walking in the street, wishing me all the best and saying that they were right behind me.

This really made me feel really good about myself and filled me with pride. I cannot thank you all enough for your support, hopefully I gave you some good times along the way too, I know people always comment on the chip against Fulham and the commitment that I showed when I pulled on the "Blue Jersey"

People say that when you play for Everton FC that you are emotinally touched by something special, in my case I can tell you this is certainly true. Thankyou so much again.

In relation to my time at the club, which has unfortunately come to an end, I must say I enjoyed it immensely. Here are some of the highlights for me:

Scoring in the champions league game against Villareal.

Scoring in a merseyside derby.

Being the clubs top scorer in the 05/06 and getting nearly a third of the clubs goals, having missed 2 months of the start of the season.

Getting the only and winning goal against Arsenal 05/06. I can remember this because I've got a big picture in my house of myself wheeling away after the goal, with all the fans in the background going crazy!!!!!

Being part of such a great team and club.

Next I would like to thank Mr Bill Kenwright. From the first momment I met him, he was amazing to me. He was always encouraging me and saying how much he wanted me to succeed at Everton. I would say that I will stay in touch with Mr Kenwright and if I need any advice, whether it be on football, or life, I wont hesitate to ring him and I'm sure he won't mind either.

Now I want to thank the players, all of them I'm proud to call my friends. They are a great set of people and fantastically talented players.

I will keep in touch with them also and I have spoken to most of them since I left the club.

I would like to wish them all the best for this term.

Finally I want to thank the backroom staff all of which I had a fantastic relationship with. They were great to me and obviously being scousers were very entertaining to say the least.

I have now moved on and taken a positive step in my career. I am very happy with my decision and very proud to be a "Blade" it's a fantastic club and everybody has made me feel very welcome. I'm looking forward to the challenge that awaits me and getting us back into the bigtime again.

I know that the gaffer and the chairman are very forward thinkin and want the club to be a success. We have a very good squad, with some great lads in it. Hopefully my addition to the squad as enhanced our chances of going straight back up.

Take care and thanks for reading this blog.

Beatz.

What's noticable is that he seems to be very specific about who he's thanking, and who he isn't; ie David Moyes was deliberately left out. Ho hum.

I like the fact that he lists out accomplishments as if he is trying to convince us that he was a crucial member of the team!

Similar to what I was thinking bud. Kind of sound like an explanation and justification rather than a thanks. But at the same time I know he is a genuine bloke, and a quality individual. His play let him down with us but I have no bad feelings for him. As I have said many times before, I wish him well for the future.

Well he has scored twice now for the Blades and if I recall correctly Robson stated somewhere that the way they were using him was different to Everton!

He was crucial for us 2 seasons ago when we were bottom of the log midway through the year. He actually contributed to that season more than people like to admit.

can't say the team on the field will miss him - I'm sure he admits it didn't work out towards the end, sounds like a nice fella though.

hope he does well.

and never scores against us. You know we are gonna play the blades this year in the cup - its nailed on.

Beattie Rules...he ws playing well at everton until johnson came into the mix, and even though he had his chances last season his confidence was low...he will come back to the premier league...possibly score against us, a great player, a great guy, loved the fans and te club...

I think you overestimate the fans respect for him. Some may do, but I heard more than a slight murmour over dissatisfaction for him.

The fnas where fed up of him, didnt hate him though, they wanted beattie to suceed, why else would they chant beattie every time he attempted to get the ball? to get him motivated! He is a good player, just not good enough for us, maybe he is and he just couldnt get into the everton styling of football...which ever, sheffield is a good club for him now, a place where he can be the best of a bad bunch, be teh best signing of the championship etc..he loves standing out, a perfect choice fro him...

...what i did find laughable was the way he said he is targeting england, i think his chance for that past, as he left everton...

...and does beattie actually have myspace? i cant find it

I wonder if a certain scum bag at OT has read that, well done BT class act that, pity about your football lad.(y)
