I thought Arteta's valuation was fair myself. Maybe a little on the low side but in the right ball park.

I don't know why but people seem to think that because we sold Lescott for an inflated price of £24m, it means we will get around that for Baines. Man City were desperate to sign Lescott, partly because they wanted the player but also because they were making a statement of intent, they knew they were going to get overcharged for players due to their financial position and it should not be used as a yard stick for every other transfer, nor should Liverpool's ill fated acquisitions of Carroll, Henderson and Downing.
