whose advice are you gonna take. a load of keyboard warriors or someone whose won the FA cup and has his coaching badges?

No. No. No.

He's a left back, and a damn good one. Don't understand why some people think just because Lahm can play all over the place that Baines could too.

Yeah, what is Roberto thinking? Just because he watches the lad play and train every day doesn't mean he knows if his talents could be applied in another role.

it makes sense Oviedo played very well there when Baines was injured so its gave him something to think about... hes got the quality to play left wing or cm on the left that way we can accommodate oviedo too

The modern full back needs to have marathon-like stamina, some pace and attacking ability. Baines still has all these, but I believe he's 30 later this year. His physical attributes will inevitably decline over the next few years, so it makes a lot of sense to look at this as an idea. Baines is an intelligent player - he plays clever little passes and I could easily see him playing the Gareth Barry role in a few years time.

It's definitely worth a look. It may never work, but if Martinez can see the potential in Baines to do this, I'm on board with the idea. He hasn't got much wrong yet.

People are allowed to disagree and I dislike the idea of Baines in the middle. Why take someone who is such a strong outlet and effective in his natural position and put him somewhere completely new and risk it? I don't think it would be good either.
