Deco

Player Valuation: £40m
17th after 11 games played despite having the easiest run of games out of anyone in the league.

We’ve had injuries and awful decisions against us which have contributed.. but in my eyes you make your own luck in football.

That lot beat Arsenal with the weakest squad I’ve ever seen them put out - scoring 5 goals against them when we’ve scored 11 in 11 games.

Our run at the end of last season showed real promise but when we haven’t won in the league from a losing position in Marco’s entire time here, where does the blame lie?

Are we unlucky to be where we are in the league, or are the VAR decisions and injuries just an excuse for being poor all season?

It would be really unfair to say stuff hasn't gone against Silva because it certainly has but none of it is any excuse for us to be in the position we are, I don't think Silva has helped himself either with the way he's gone about setting up for matches.

Honestly I think we all know you need luck in life. I do believe Everton are and always have been one unlucky club.
1968 WBA how did that team lose that final
1971 Panathonikas and the FA Cup Semi defeats in the same week. Then Ball sold and Catt loses his health and we dont act quick enough
1986 Heysel decision to ban and what came afterwards
Dr David Marsh. Peter Johnson Bill Kenwright three crap custodians. We as Evertonians have not deserved these three.
Moshri. This was us coming back! Sadly its all a bit scatter gun and no real plan. Feels like Walker all over again.

We weren’t exactly good last season. People go on about the run at the end, but Europe was absolutely attainable (finished 3 points outside it) and as usual we fell short and beating a few of the bigger teams doesn’t make up for that.

Silva wasn’t exactly great at Watford and him nosediving there and also twice here suggests to me that our interest didn’t play the huge part in Watford’s misfortunes last season as people tried to make out. Also making a relegated team play better but still actually being relegated isn’t impressive to me.

Yes we’ve had a lot of injuries but our treatment room isn’t even nearly the most full in the league and our problems started long before the injuries.

We have sinned against the Almighty and thus we are now paying the price for our iniquities. We turned our face from God and went our own way believing we could be victorious without his hand to guide us. Now we look on in despair amidst the destruction of or own making and ask: "Who is at fault for our demise? For whom can we blame?".

I think it's probably a mixture of bad decision making by the 'powers that be' at the club, unfortunate luck, and poor management, to be honest.
