Why are people finding it difficult to understand why Witsel may be holding out for a bigger club?
To all of us, we may well be one of the biggest clubs in England, historically.
To Axel Witsel (or a lot of other modern players) we're likely just an average premier league side who've got a lot of money now.
I'd be more likely to call him a mercenary if he'd accepted our rumoured big offer immediately.
As will be the case with most high profile players we can now target, it's going to take a lot of persuasion and belief in our "project" in order to get them to join us, as to them it will be based on our potential and ambition for the future as opposed to our history.
