Atmosphere at Goodison

I was at the game on Sunday, i was pleased to see how full the stadium was considering it was lunchtime on a sunday and also on TV. There wasnt a great atmosphere there, but there wasn't a great deal to cheer about. But winning 3-1 when we played awful football isn't too bad at all.

Can't stand the constant standing up and sitting down in the Gwladys. Fair enough when something exciting happens but it's literally up and down like a yo-yo for the slightest thing. I feel bad when I block a kid or an older fan behind me.

I would prefer to stand for the entire match in an ideal world.

I was in Lower GT with @Artetafan and was able to get "Allez Allez Oh" chants going once or twice

Trouble is, we get through one lot of it and everyone falls silent. I'll make an effort to join in with any of the chanting, but when the end comes round I'm just expecting it to fall flat, and everyone goes into it kind of half-arsed and stops because they feel like "that" guy/girl.

Honestly think the expectation that we'll do one lot and shut up is a bigger dampener than people not being willing to get going / join in.

That said, it is kind of awkward trying to get behind the team when the much bigger, angrier lad behind you apparently paid £30 for the privilege of politely expressing his disbelief that Joel managed to find his way out of the tunnel with his gloves on the right hands. For nigh on 90 minutes, FFS.

I'll sound like a tight get but if someone brings their kids into the Lower Gwladys Street and complains about people standing and blocking the kids view then that dad/uncle/pervy kidnapper is a tit for taking them in there. They've got the rest of the ground to take kids and sit them down.

Same the other way if you go in the Family Enclosure and then stand up then you're a tit as well.

One other thing, this new Grand Old Team seems a lot better well done.

Best Support in Europe mate.

quite a lot of people (younger ones mainly) just go for the p*** up.
People are happy we got Arsenal because it will be a 'boss away day on the coach'.

People are allowed to enjoy football anyway they want mate

Spending £30 to watch Everton FC is money in the clubs pocket

If you want to sit there and not chant, that's your right

Fans don't have some unwritten rule that they have to be mad as a box of frogs

Everyone enjoys the game differently

Saying it's "Apalling" because we weren't all waving flags, setting off flares and banging drums is a huge insult to the fans who took the time to support the club and buy a ticket

I'm not against that whatsoever. I sat in the Main stand for the cup game simply for the view

Yes you're right but isn't there also a right for those who do want to sing and chant to be able to do so without insult? Apologies if I'm wrong but I'm sure I remember reading a post you done a while ago having a go at fans who want to sing all match?

Quite right mate, the fella next to me at the Chelsea game said he had a job reading his book with all the noise going on.

We have different types of fans so therefore bringing in standing sections helps.
The people who want to sit down etc go in the seated area and the fans that want to stand up and sing go in the standing area!! That way everyones happy and know one ruins it for other people.

Compared to years ago, it's completely contrasted. We've all made some suggestions about how to get things changed so its time we done something about it, in time for our next home game. First of all, think about the atmosphere in the derby, it was the best it has been this season but not the best we've ever experienced at Goodison.

Lukaku said he's never experienced anything like it. Doesn't comments like this make any of you think "hang on, we should be like this every game!"
We put 3 past them that day, they played to our fkin advantage!

Martinez said it himself and made a plea for us to continue with that special atmosphere, we never. We reverted back to boring Everton atmosphere when we should've kept it going.

Another point, if we can do it in a derby why can't we do it against other clubs? We go to Goodison once every fortnight, lets make the most of our time there, get behind the team for 90 minutes and sing our hearts out! Make noise! It's not like it's every day! It's for 90 minutes, every two weeks!!!

Doesn't matter who the opposition is, we are doing it for Everton. The same Everton that come out on the pitch every week. They need our support against Fulham just as much as they do against Liverpool!

So we need to make things happen. I wish every member in the Gwladys street could read this but it's only a handful who will. Can we pass the message on. Can we print out enough leaflets and get to the ground early and put them on the seats?

Here's what I say happens:

Leaflets passed out outside the ground and put on seats in Gwladys lower

Everybody stands up (like we did all game in the derby and various others)

When "And if you know your history" plays we join in. It is intimidating to the opposition.

When the players come out we sing our traditional Everton chant and a couple of others when the teams are read out.

When the songs start at the back of the street end, we join in with them. Don't have to join in with everyone, but make a bit of an effort!

This is for starters, it's so easy to make this happen. If anyone wants to make something happen as simple as this then lets start making progress!
