Definitely our best full back.
He's been far better than last season for some reason.
I can't remember the last free kick as good as that.
Beckhamesque and he is so old that he played alongside Beckham.

When I am wrong I am wrong. I wouldn’t have had him at the club this season, I would have replaced him with a younger model. He has proven me wrong with his performances this season. This will be a fitting swan song, all credit to him. I hope he plays against his son in the cup, what an experience that would be for his family.
I am always very happy to be proven wrong when I think a player isn’t good enough for Everton.

I’m going to just say it: player of the season up to now. This is coming from a big critic of his.

I said the same the other day before last night’s performance, I’m in exactly the same camp as you but credit where it’s due .

I actually voted for mangala as I thought he made a real difference in the middle but there was a ciggie paper between them . Young has been the stand out player for the last half dozen games and probably the season overall .

I don't especially agree with this, he's been good all season and last season thought he was mostly fine but it was popular amongst a pretty daft and angry fanbase to slate him.

I do completely agree he has been overused and would have been a far better signing in a better squad covering 4 positions from the bench.

He scored a worldie of a free kick and then misplaced several 10 yard passes by either underhitting or just missing the target completely. He was also bad last night, is what I mean, despite the goal.

Credit where credit is due. I got sick of him giving the ball away, not making runs and chip-shot, channel passes a la Phil Neville a few games ago.
It took some cahones last night to step up, take the free kick AND SCORE in a side struggling with confidence.
Our most effective outfield player for the past 3 games.
