Ashley Cole joins coaching team

who Baines ?
I would not be surprised if Baines circles in on coaching the striking of a ball/set pieces taking with Dunc coaching attacking positions on SP.

I assume Ashley Cole will focus on LB/WB positioning, understanding / reading of the game and taking on players.

Both LB and AC can coach tackling, standing players up, blocking crosses etc.

We’re only going to benefit from an appointment like this. These are the foundations we’ve been wanting for years.

Always think this is just something to do for Cashley. Instead of taking up gardening or something in his retirement, he'd just take up coaching cos he know people.

Oh agree wholeheartedly, just making a case for Baines because over the years Cole was always a favourite of the Southern media . Thought they were both great players myself, if I had to pick a defender I'd pick Cole, Cole was probably quicker as well and better positionally. But I always thought Baines was better going forward, better crosser also Baines, ball striking, free kicks and pens.

I never thought Ashley Cole would be the type to go into coaching, because of his off pitch attitude when he was younger.

There is no doubting he was a great player and I hope he's as good a coach as he was playing.

He's undoubtedly a winner (does he have the record of most FA Cup wins as player?) and I hope he can help change the mentality of our player's and the Club.

He also had controlled aggression (just like Lampard) when needed. We've lacked that edge for decades.

I wish him great success with us.

I always think the Baines and Cole debate is closer than what people make out. I remember making a point of watching the pair when we played them and Baines a lot of the time came out on top imo.
