Riddle me this right...

This time last year Koeman was publicly stating at every press event during the preseason and start of the season that he needed a left sided defender. I did have the numbers at one point but I think it was something silly like 18 times in 5 weeks he said he needed a defender and a striker.

12 months later we still don't have another left back. I know Digne I due in next week... But... You don't need a director of football or 4 managers to tell you to buy a left back.

This stuff about Marco Silva needing time to see the players in action himself... Absolute rubbish. What's he been doing for 6 months since being binned by Watford ?! In the Algarve on a banana boat?! Or not watching his prospective club and planning? If he needed 5 weeks and how ever many friendlies to see that Jags, Baines, Bolasie, Mirallas, Schneiderlin etc etc are not up to scratch then in bloody worried.

Not overly worried about the squad as a whole but I'm utterly pooing myself about going in to the season with the Axis of Evil (Keane, Jags, Schneiderlin) in the starting 11. Jags is 36 in a few weeks....He should be up north playing along side Efe Ambrose for Hibs. Schneiderlin is an absolute fraud of the highest level, the man plays defensive midfielder without having any of the qualities of one. Keane? Still hoping he comes good but he looks broken and is genuinely scared of attackers going past him.

With the time left we have backed ourselves in to a corner over the Mina and Digne deals, Barca will know we are desperate as will the players. Fully expect to be rinsed for both.

I was slated for worrying about:

Lack of transfers

Poor defence

Venomous players like Schnerderlin and Williams still about the place

Tosun not good enough to lead the line

Silva being let down by the board / DOF

make no mistake we will get hammered in the league at present and as I feared Silva will be given the can when it was clear from day one he needed 5-6 signings coming in to play his style.

What strikes me the most is we looked decent enough in preseason up until the Blackburn game. The pressing stopped. The chemistry disappeared. Are our players this mentally weak that they would let a preseason result affect them this much? I’m most concerned about this bunch mentally. It seems to be an Everton thing.

I’m not overly worried at the moment. Pre season is about building up fitness. I’m more interested in what shape we’ll be when the window closes and season starts.

Not worried, we'll do what we've done for the last few seasons. Win a few, lose more than we should, finish midtable. Marco needs time this season is a write off.

Waiting to see what the squad/team looks like, at the end of the transfer window, before any panic starts.
