Are you worried?

Are you concerned heading into the new season?

The thing is hiring someone like Silva is a double edged sword. He wants to play attacking pressing football which in the long term and with the right players is what we want. But currently most of this squad isn't capable of playing that way and gets badly exposed doing it we saw it last season and under Martinez. So until he can adjust his system or bring in the key players we need we are going to struggle especially away from home.

It’s not looking goof so far. We need to be patient though.

We look so disjointed , If we go a goal down , we don't look to have the appetite to fight back. We need new blood at the back , because our defending was pub side like.
Our passing was hurried and panicked,
The signs imo are not good.

You have to hope he was playing what he thought was his strongest side today. If he and Brands aren't worried and don't act this week I would be surprised.

Obviously Rome wasn't built in a day and it was always going to take time but other than the first 30 minutes against Porto there doesn't seem to be much improvement from last season, if anything we actually look worse defensively which takes some doing. I know people can say 'it's only preseason' but we all said that last season and the level of performance has got to be a concern again.
Painfully obvious that we still need 4 or 5 new signings that could slot into the first team but with the end of the window bearing down is there time to get them in, we'll most likely only get 2 or 3 in, so it looks like we'll have to rely on the same underperforming cowards that have let us down last season to see us through til January

One thing though is I hope Silva gets time and some patience, by now it's obvious to everybody it's the players who are letting this club down

I agree with Silva needing time and patience, unfortunately these days it's a trait in short supply. Even if we finish 11th/12th this season, if there are tangible signs that we are;

1) Playing good, attacking and easy-on-the-eye football,
2) Bringing through youth players with real potential,
3) Phasing out the disasters of last season and the likes of Jags and Baines,
4) The manager is bringing in his own players in the positions we require, with the attitude, strength of character and desire we need,

I'd be happy.

Then the building blocks for 2019/20 and beyond will at least have been set, and some of the disastrous ghosts of the Koeman/Walsh era hopefully would have been laid to rest.

We will get enough at home but away could be a mess again if we start with the same defence and midfield. I expect additions in the next few weeks, pace, power physicality are all the things we lack in midfield and defence.

CBA with this Everton team or the new ownership or management structure. It's all just a complete mess, which I thought Kenwright was being ultra cautious to avoid us finding ourselves in this situation.

Everyone blamed Kenwright for holding on to the club too long and now he's being blamed for selling to a billionaire.
