Are we too harsh on our players?

Do we give our players too hard a time?

At times, yes. I remember sitting in the Park End watching John Stones getting dog's abuse and I said to my mate "He'll end up leaving at this rate."

It's happened to so many high quality young players who were "crap", including Gordon who now plays for Barca.

God this is tiresome. John Stones didn’t leave because a few people in the Park End shouted at him to clear the ball once.

He left because he was way too good for what Everton have become. I imagine he wanted to treble his wages and win trophies.

Playing for a big club isn’t and shouldn’t ever be a comfortable experience, it’s just one of those things. I feel sorry for lads who for the most part should never have got near EFC and are trying their best, but thems the breaks
Can you give me an example of such an approach helping to make a player perform better for Everton FC?

I know the former Watford goalie Ben Foster confirmed that opposition teams loved playing at Goodison because we did their work for them - we got on the backs of our own players early on and made them nervy.

I never said it helped, i merely stated that it’s part and parcel of playing for a big club. Foster is an utter clown that has to fire out little bits of click bait to get some views, players that fold under the pressure clearly don’t belong on such a stage. Top players thrive, it gives them an edge. I genuinely sympathise with honest pros that give everything but are clearly not cut out for that type of cauldron

Today’s buggers get off light.

When I was a young lad stood in the Street End, we watched as the arl arses in the Top Balcony bombarded them with a barrage of cushions after the kind of insipid performances we were treated to at HD for most of last season 😊

Football is a socially acceptable outlet for people's inability to deal with their lack of status, unfulfilled lives and poor relationships and it's easier to blame a footballer for that than it is to look at other factors.

People forget that there is a person playing and performance isn't just about ability.

And, sometimes top flight footballers that Everton sign are really bad at football (comparatively speaking).

If you look at the 7 games after Chelsea that cost us Europe and the club millions of pounds in prize money, then no absolutely not. Hard to point out even one of them that came out of that run in with his head held high. Probably just Pickford. The rest deserve everything they get.

That schneiderlin round of booing is infamous. Not often a manager will cite something so negative in after match interview.

The support is tired, sold a few false dawns and now a much nicer obstructionless stadium, but it's meant being able to take in some crummy performances in full. "If we can see the problem..." etc.
On the whole I think that we are overly harsh as a fanbase and the way we treat homegrown players especially frustrates me, but in this instance he deserved it

Are we all blaming the fans lad?
It's a natural progression. We've blamed the players and got new ones, we blame the manager and still no better, stadium change and it's no better, owners have changed to no improvement in results.

The ONLY constant is the fans.

It's time to consider that maybe the fans are the problem.

We should be looking at why that is - I had a theory it was due to obscured views at Goodison and lack of half time snack options - but that's been laid to rest.

Perhaps not enough casual fans who are excited for the day trip, rather than the perpetually frustrated and emotionally immature season ticket holder.
