Are we too harsh on our players?

Do we give our players too hard a time?

Discussion in the Barry thread is making me reflect on our general treatment of players.

Are we too harsh? Too quick to judge? Dare I say unsupportive?

Barry's not an outstanding footballer, let's be clear. But some of the discussion around him feels incredibly harsh, possibly not helped by his mates in the Arsenal away end incident.

DCL got some, ahem, treatment. The away game at Villa booing was poor, imho.

Tom Cleverly bieing booed at Goodison wasn't exactly amazing either.

Calling two of our best strikers in recent years lazy, or trampoline shins etc.

Personally I'm not sure it helps players be their best. Some these lads are just what they are - average players, shouting or raging about them isnt going to do much. Players lose form or pick up knocks. Others, who are genuinely high calibre, probably don't appreciate it.

Discuss.
A poor player is a poor player.
I've seen us really get behind certain players with zero improvement.
Does it make it more intimidating having raging fans or would the reward of shutting them up be worth it.
And as a certain expro says its their job..

If we dont boooo then how will they know they are crap?

I think sometimes people fail to see past the footballer. We have to remember they are human beings who other human beings love and need.

Online abuse is terrible, be it racist or just people gobbing off on their instagram account or elsewhere.

I think we all get cheesed off with lack of effort, but very few of us will make it personal, thankfully.
