your original point is quite contradictory or at least appears so to me, you complain that the term racism is misused, yet then go on to seemingly complain that a white man in the uk complaining of racism would be ignored, so I'm really not too sure where you are landing at here, probably a mistake on my part

I actually find the idea that racism is a commonly misused word quite a dangerous notion, there is a strong attitude amongst a certain demographic that whenever anyone complains of any form of offense or harassment, is that it's 'faux outrage', 'pc gone mad'. I'm sure 40 years ago the same sort of people complained that black people are too easily offended, its only a joke etc, we only chucked a banana on the pitch, if they work as hard as me they will find the same opportunities etc etc. Hopefully in 40 years some current issues of inequality will be viewed in the same vein as certain ones years ago were and it will seem insane that it was ever in question, and society progresses. But, there is a section of todays society they act with outright anger to the offended, it's actually quite startling.

So it is right and proper that racism is a one way street in the eyes of the law?

It is okay for my ex-boss to tell me not to be so English. But it is not okay for me to answer back because that could be considered racist or worse still anti semetic.

I cannot condone any form of abuse. But what I hate more is this constant twisting of the truth to suit an agenda.

Everyone is equal and should treated as such.

its a weird one really isnt it, im sure this has been covered but they have stereotypical drunk irishmen, willie is meant to be an angry scotsman, the italians are either in the mafia or work in a pizza place need i carry on.....

i feel sorry for them having to defend it, wasnt the 8 kids not a joke about foreign migrants having loads of kids but more down to him overdoing fertility treatment or something too?

The whole point is that there are multiple stereotypes in the show, but not all fit the agenda of those complaining and are brushed aside.

I am sorry to rant on but the whole hypocrisy of race arguments winds me up!

prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.

just to quote the dictionary definition of racism here. i dont see how these (bar maybe prejudice) fit into the narrative that apu is racist.

however if they fit for apu they feature for the white characters as named such as Willie, the chap who works in the italian resteraunt and Fat Tony etc

but because they are white no one is making a big deal of it, in fact i did read that some italian americans complained about the italian portrayal of their people on the show and its got nowhere near the coverage.

i only know of it because i read the wikipedia page for the episode where bart is part of the mob

I think people are personally focusing on the fact a white guy does the voice than anything else

If you look at the Apu character, he's reasonably fleshed out and is generally an intelligent and likeable guy

Alex Borstein voices Tricia Takanawa, an Asian woman, and Loretta Brown, a black woman, in Family Guy. Hank Azaria does Black, Asian, Hispanic and religious stereotype vocals for The Simpsons.

It's called voice acting. It's not "blackface" because there's no face to it; it's animation. It's about getting the pre-requisite vocal talent to match the character. If they need a stereotype for the character for the purpose of comedy, they'll do a stereotype.

Honestly think the people complaining don't understand the concept of animation and comedy.

So it’s just some guy, who no one knows, getting outraged and filming himself being outraged in order to raise his profile.....

He's a reasonably well known comedian in the US (personally I don't find him funny) who has performed on SNL and the people he's interviewing about it are pretty well known actors. I recognised every single one of them. If he was a nobody he wouldn't be landing interviews with the likes of Whoopie Goldberg and Kal Pen.

So no Pete, you're wide of the mark... as usual.

I've always been insulted they've never included the typical scouser in full employment with a masters degree.
