Because it kinda helps when buying other players if their cllub knows we just received £50m or not.

I would honestly rather have money in the bank than Gordon sat on his arse sulking, missing training and continuing to take a wage for the next 6 months. Selling him before the deadline has to be a priority, his contributions on the pitch for us are a thing of the distant past.
 

IF we had a backbone as a club and we’re not the sorry state of affairs that we are, we would take that to the FA and report clubs for tapping up before issuing a months fine for every day he doesn’t rock up due to breach of contract, setting a precedent that we aren’t a soft touch.

Not that he’s added anything to the team for months either

I didn't mean not sell him at all this week. I am saying we could have just accepted day dot of the bid, but then clubs know we're flush and desperate, if he's still here we can negotaite replacements easier.

Not sure about that one J, the closer it gets to the deadline the more desperate we obviously are. We just need the player out the door at this point otherwise we’re absolutely snookered if we end up stuck with him.
