Another One Bites the Dust

It all went wrong, clearly we will never know what really happened. It ain't going to change anything now so let's hope we can get him or a similar player in January to bolster the squad. We were all happy at 11 o'clock on deadline day in that we had done some business and importantly kept our top players, I saw this as a bonus that hasnt materialised so I'm well over it now.

Was there any truth in the idea that we were gonna sign him on a permanent transfer but didn't have time to for a full transfer so we went for a loan with a view to buy offer instead?

I don't buy that myself , that means our first choice target we only wanted on loan but because he chose a permanent deal elsewhere (which we wouldn't or couldn't offer) so we switched to another target who at the very last minute we offered a permanent deal for which was more expensive than the deal the other target had moved for but it was too late so we had to try and loan ?

To me doesnt it surely sound more likely that we failed in one loan deal so we went for another ?

I don't see where we would have gotten the money to fund a permanent transfer for the lad. Anyway, don't think we'll get him now, his name is well and truly out there and other clubs with more money will surely jump in.

Im honestly not all that bothered really, i doubt the lid will go on and play for the likes of Milan or the like and he was down our list of targets anyway - yeah would have been an extra body on loan, but i woul dprefer to keep our powder dry and look at that position with a clear target in mind.

It will be interesting to see if we are still after him in January or if he was a stop-gap signing like Castillo a couple of seasons ago.
Either way,I don't think we will be fighting off dozens of clubs for his signature.

Im sure it says in the Echo that were getting legal advice before we take any action with regards to the transfer?!.

I'm sure we'll keep our eye on him until January and see how he gets on, and im sure us Evertonians will be able to get a look at him when Club Brugge face Newcastle in the Europa League this season, there bound to be on tele those games?!.

We do need a midfielder like him in the squad incase were going to keep on using Felli further forward or if Felli or Gibbo pick up injuries/suspensions.

Christ, I wouldn't trust this clubs 'legal advice' considering last time they tried to sue a bunch of Japanese dentists...

I don't understand why a citizen of one EU country, Belgium, can't get a work permit in another EU country, Britain, when it's clear that he has a job there. Not the first time I've seen this happen but I've never heard an explanation.

To be fair I don't think he'll have only just come to the attention of other clubs. Generally scouts don't read the papers to find new targets. Plus he was signing for Fulham beforehand anyway so it's not like we plucked him out of obscurity.

It wasn't a work permit issue.

The paperwork was filed too late, on Brugge's end I think.

Brennan are you that naive that you think Everton where the only club in the world to have scouted this player

I am sure however good Evertons scouting network is other clubs have as good if not better than ours

Maybe other teams did not fancy him or looked at better options

I'm pretty confident he'd been strongly on Fulham's radar even in talks hadn't he ?
