Andy King - Feel Good Thread

I remember being at that game... brilliant feeling when the ball hit the back of the net. Andy King scored the equaliser in the one-one draw at Anfield in the return fixture also. We finished fourth that season, a position that most clubs these days would see as a success due to the way the game is structured now; back then, it was just fourth and not good enough.

Wasn’t that the season when we went on a long game unbeaten run before united tanked us 6-2 or something like that over Xmas, which we never really recovered from. As you said 4th was considered nowhere then.

Did a search. Appears it was Coventry who ended our 19 game unbeaten run on 22nd Dec with a 3-2 win. As you said, we didn't really get over it, winning something like six games out of the remaining 22 or so.

I was at that game. My first ever Derby match! Bloke under the stand couldn’t go up and watch in case they scored.

I think we went something like 15 games or so unbeaten, but not sure if Utd hammered us or not to end our run. That might be one for @Dario Terracotta .
Yep Cels,we lost first two, forest and arsenal I think, then we went unbeaten til the 6-2 boxing day debacle, pretty sure we lost away to Leeds a couple of days later to complete a miserable Xmas!!!Doh!!!

Was the Utd game boxing day. I seem to remember it being a couple of days before Christmas. I think it was the one when some balloon ran on the pitch and threatened Lou Macari.

The Utd 6-2 was boxing day 1977. We stayed on Forest's tails most of that season but faded a little and finished 3rd. The following season was the Andy King derby winner when,as mentioned above, we ended up 4th. Gordon Lee's first 2 seasons. The next 2 we finished 15th and 18th. We then went out and got an ex player on with no top flight management experience. I can't remember what happened Next.
