I like Gomes he is good on the ball but he lacks mobility and it shows especially away from home. I appreciate he is still coming back from a bad leg break and looked rusty I will give him a break and some games to get up to full match sharpness but its worrying considering our lack of options in there. We need much more mobility in midfield. If Gomes is going to be in there we need two midfielders who can get around and compliment him
He gets sucked in and therefore dribbled past a little too easily but if we’re trying to counter he’s the centre mid you’d want on the ball. Think him and Delph will do alright as a 2 and the most likely pairing to be able to control a game - although I thought Davies put in a very mature and disciplined performance yesterday, as did all of our players imo.
Quality player, looked a tad podgy yesterday I thought though.

Tbf he looked very rusty and barely fit if we had other options he wouldn't be forced to play 90 mins right now. I agree he was bought to play in a three though a two doesn't really suit him but he would be helped by a more physical partner.
Looked a bit knackered in the second half but that isn't a surprise.
It'll be interesting to see if he starts again on Wednesday, or if he will put Sigurdsson in there.

Too few sadly,
Well that's the next few days spoilt for me having to let that sink in. I'm surprised Carlo didn't give Sigurdsson some game time yesterday.

Good point this. He was excellent with Gueye, he just can't carry weaker players like Delph, Schneids and Davies.
I forgot he was on the pitch - completely anonymous yesterday.
