Nor do I, but you posted that people are backing Son out of decency. He didn’t act decently when he recklessly lunged into the back of Gomes causing him to break his ankle.

I don't think its "indecent" to say a red card is fair punishment. No one is saying Son is a deliberate/malicious ankle-breaker, just that he went in with a deliberate foul which cased an ankle break. He'll spend 3 games on the sideline, it's not the end of the world for the lad.

Fair does, ive said far too much on this matter, I suppose its a bit weird.

Again I only want to see Gomes back ASAP, hes my only real concern, if Son gets banned for 64 games or none, it honestly doesnt bother me either way.

Not a chance mate. Not even remotely possible. Unfortunately. A clean break of the fibula only with no ligament damage and no dislocation, maybes in 3-4 months "normal mobility" will be achievable. Not with this injury though. And not with an elite athlete. 6/7 months until full mobility at least.

I think at the very best he could feature in the last couple of games of the season, but much more likely is we won’t see him on the field until the start of next season. He shouldn’t be rushed back, we have just got to adapt now without him.

It's not about point scoring with this kinda of thing but I respectfully say he won't mate having done the same thing myself. As you rightly say he should in no way be rushed back.

My view is that Son was out of control when he made that challenge, that it was completely unnecessary, and resulted in a serious injury. The fact that his tackle could have caused that shows how fast play was moving because Gomes was unable to readjust his foot to ground or get out of the way properly. It endangered the player to the point where he broke his ankle. Red card.

You only have to see the reaction of the Everton players to see it was not a bad foul. No one was `out of control' lol.

It was a `trip'. It was not 2 footed or up near his head. He was tripped up, like kids in an under 10's game do 14 times per game. Gomes
was just bang unlucky he caught his leg in the turf and done his ankle.

I would estimate that injury would occur after that sort of foul 1 in 10,000 times.

Totally agree. It was a freak injury. Completely unfortunate. Think Son will probably have the red rescinded because it wasn’t a malicious tackle.

His ankle was goosed before Aurier was even in the picture, not that he particularly helped matters, I’m sure.

Great news that the surgery has gone well, the important thing now is that Gomes gets looked after and recovers as quickly as possible.

Again, don’t think it’s helpful comparing top level athletes to children or five a side. The pace at which this tackle is made is on another level.

Spurs appealing the ban is in bad taste, its an intentional foul thats caused a serious injury son should get at least a 6 game ban. Gomes has far longer on the sidelines than that.

I left the ground after Gomes was stretchered off. The whole game had a venomous atmosphere. Awful football match, awful refereeing, shambolic VAR antics. Basically boo-ing for the majority of the match. Atkinson lost control of the game and it was just a free for all, ending in a horrible career threatening injury. The whole game was depressing and the result felt like a complete after-thought.
