just booked flights for my brothers stag doo in amsterdam, other than the obvious suggestions can anyone suggest something to do through the day that have been before, ajax are playing on the afternoon but dont know to book this or not. also any decent but cheap hostels or hotels people have stayed in before

Just got back from there last weekend. With it being a stag do I recommend doing the Heineken tour. Decent couple of hours where u can have a laugh and sample the free bevvies. The rest goes without saying.

Went for my stag do. Can barely remember anything. I do recall that it was difficult to book a hotel if they knew we were a stag group. In the end, we said we were art students coming to see the museums. The land lady sussed as soon as we arrived but we were never at the hotel for any length of time so didn't cause her any hassle. It's a mad place.

There isn't a massive amount of stuff to do of a day unless you like walking tours and museums.

Go round the red light district but be easy and keep a low profile whilst having a laugh.

Go to a few coffee shops. Go to the Leidesplein Square for bars, pubs, restaurants etc.

Loads of cheap hostels but some are very very basic. €30 a night maybe. Get someone to share though and pay for an average/good hotel bed and breakfast. It'll be worth it when you're smashed the next day and won't have to go out looking for breakfast at extortionate prices. Amsterdam is very expensive all round.

Lastly there is a comedy club (in English) called Boom Chicago, but I have never been so can't vouch for that but heard it was good.
