I'm sure I've heard from a few sources that Dyche is insisting on PL experience for the CM position. With our lack of funds, and that pathetic approach in mind, this deal was never going to happen.

The PL is littered with players who have come in to the league highly rated and just dont cut the mustard and eventually go back under the rock they came from while someone like Idrissa Gueye or Ashley Young have been playing in this league for a decade. Pl experience does & should count for something in recruitment.
Like everything there is a bit of give and take with this, but if we have so far brought in 3 players this summer with 0 PL and one in Iroegbunam with barely any. Would it not make sense to be looking at some experience in the PL?
Not sure on the PL experience thing but I do wonder whether if Iroegbunam is going pretty well it’s felt like another signing of similar age / profile / experience / cost is too much overlap.
I know people will yell PSR workaround but Tim is clearly a handy player and there’s no guarantee some lad from Reims would be any better.

They make up the numbers without messing up the PSR I think.
End of the day this lad has been linked to a long list of clubs including us, and if he’s going to Fiorentina for 8m all of those clubs that have looked at him have decided not to bid more. So we’re probably not missing out on bargain of the century.

Not if it's Kalvin Phillips, or the man you mentioned above - Ashley Young. He has been a total liability in the majority of games.
A poor player is a poor player, regardless of PL experience. We have too many players who have a tonne of PL experience but are terrible. If you sign young players with a high ceiling, with no PL experience, you likely make some secemt money. Look at Moise Kean, Henry Onyekuru, Vlasic, Lookman, Niels Nkounkou etc. etc. No PL experience, didn't do well for us, or play at all yet we made profits on all of them.

Let's hope we do. Would be madness if we didn't. Particularly as a loan deal for Phillips would cost us more this year in wages and fees than the down-payment on Richardson, and almost as much as signing Richardson in total!!
But why is it madness for us to not be matching it? He’s been linked to half a dozen other clubs, is it madness that no one else is matching or exceeding it? Or does the fact no one is doing so not indicate the level of the player?
