Player Valuation: Pssssht
Greetings, mates. I'm one of those American Blues. I've lived all my life on the US East Coast, but just have relocated to the West Coast ... just north of San Francisco. That's right, Everton matches start at 7 a.m.

I've only been following Everton for the last two seasons. It's probably cliche for a new fan to say, but it really was love at first sight. I've always loved the sport ... even played for five seasons as a youth. I was pretty decent. Being in the southeast US, there were never teams to garner my rooting interest. Well, I'm all grown up now, and finally ponied up for the cable package needed to get some PL games on TV. I saw this team playing, trying to crack up what I'd learn to be known as the "big four." It was a quest that got me sucked in. It also help that I sat right across from a Liverpool supporter at work. He'd annoy me by singing red-songs. Blech. I started reading the history about Everton. Being that it was founded by a Methodist minister was a draw-in, being that my father is a Methodist minister. There are so many other reasons, but they honestly served only to solidify a choice I'd already made.

As far as finding this forum. Basically, I googled "Everton message board" and "Everton forum" on several different occasions. This is one of several I'd visit. Mostly, I was looking for more up-to-date transfer rumors than what I'd been reading in the Echo, Daily Post, Guardian, Sky, Mail and BBC. It wasn't until Facebook offered me a quick way to register, however, that I actually started to participate.

My favorite Everton player of all time? Well, I doubt it'd be really fair of me to list one of the Everton greats, especially never having seen them. Sure, I sat at the computer numerous times (mostly at work) reading about Blue legends -- Dean, Royle, Sharp, Southall -- and stories about the ups and downs of EFC. So, to answer the question, I'll take a different route. There's a player who, being from the US, that I've watched play for some time now. You see, this guy -- a striker -- had gone from the US the play over in England for a large chunk of his career. I didn't really keep track, but he spent most of his time on London. But it was upon closer inspection that this fellow made eight appearances for Everton and scored four goals along the way. My favorite all-time Everton player (for now) is Brian McBride. Sure, there are countless more players who have play much larger parts of Blues' history. Ask me this question again in 10 years, and I'm sure I'll come up with a more impactful player.

My favorite current player? Now, that's a tough one. So far in this campaign, they've all thrilled me and all irritated me. Arteta is extremely artful (the set-peice goal against Blackburn is still, I think, my favorite ... that's probably because there was a Rovers fan right next to me at that exact moment). Fellaini, I'm sure everyone will admit, is a delight to watch (though he needs to grow into his feet ... a bit clumsy at times). Of course being American myself, Tim Howard is up there. But currently, I'd have to say my favorite is Tim Cahill. When I played, I was always a bit undersized. My dad said I overcame that by being overly aggressive. My mom calls it tenacity. Well, even though I'd never heard of Cahill, he was apparently the player I was trying to be way back then. What is he, 5-foot-10? And flying over all these galoot center backs for these huge goals? Now that is a joy to watch.

Oh, the pineapple on pizza ... no thanks, mate. (n)
